I can just hear the elves now, "Mr Santa, if you give him the upgrade,
he's really going to want a bigger monitor, and there's one on sale
just up the street from his chimney..."

We're on track for releasing before Christmas so that shouldn't be a problem (it should be the 15th somewhere when it drops, from what I'm still told). Well, unless your particular Santa isn't generous then you may have to pony up yourself but that's up to you.

From what i see in your previous video, it appears there's still no way of linking the left and right chains of a stereo path... so close to perfection and yet it's a FAIL. :dog:

I did ask on YouTube whether using the new VIR technology it was also possible to export the "mixed" IR (like you can when using mixIR3 or Libra) and they replied it's not possible.

This for me it's pretty much a deal breaker because I don't want to be in a situation where I need to rely on the plugin just to then use that cabinet emulation if I want to use a different amp sim. The fact that you can (I guess) save a present however it's good if you just have the whole chain with Amplitube 5 but I guess the "all in one" approach is not what I'm after.

One thing I'd like to do for example is to come up with a tone I like using Amplitube and VIR and then export the cab IR and try it with a different amp sim so that I could a/b the built in amp sim with an external one, using the same cab setup.

However the CS version doesn't come with VIR so maybe I can just buy the single amp models and use my own IRs.

Has anyone run into issues when converting from IK's old License Manager to the new IK Product Manager?

Did installing the Product Manager require reauthorizing everything or was the process painless ?

I'm mostly concerned about messing up my TRacks installs or authorizations. Sampletank and Syntronik not so much but I'm very dependent on several TRacks plugins.

It's a concern that's on my mind as I consider upgrading to Amplitube 5 or even just trying the CS version.

Painless here, no re-authorizations. TR5 (and the other products) survived intact :)

But the IKPM is currently missing some features (e.g. reinstall).

I guess you can use a sine sweep to make an IR with external tools? Bit of a pain, depending on your DAW. Hmm, actually I'm tempted to go do that with the A4 cabs now because I really like using MCabinet.

I'm not familiar with the sine sweep method, but I also have MCabinet and I did try to create some IRs using MFreeformEqualizer but I guess those are basically just based on an EQ curve?

Anyway as you mentioned it's a bit of a pain and not something I'd see myself doing; the way it works in MCabinet and mixIR is a lot faster and next time you can just load them into another amp sim that supports loading IRs...

That said, I can't wait for Amplitube5 to be out to demo a few of its new (updated) amps!

Just run an impulse through the cab with everything else bypassed. Voilà, now you have an IR.

Edit: I see you guys got that figured out now.

It would be an issue to me if the 'old' version were prohibited from use by whatever means. I get that people want new features, but some of us want simplicity
that works, to insure a stable system for the long run, and don't need a video-game store with animated catalog just to install an app and libraries

Why can't big companies implement the simple cross-platform installations
and registrations that have served U-he customers so well for over a decade?
Why default to scattergun installs that pepper a hard drive, when keeping most things in a single Data folder, would be easier for customers to keep track of ?
:x  :dog: OK, got that all off my chest,
now for the   :tu: ...the new video is pretty convincing, and I
hope you sell more copies than any previous release :hyper:
Cheers

I am told the expected time of release if in the early afternoon Italy time on the 16th so while it will be the 15th somewhere, it likely won't be for you and others so the 16th would be the day to take off.

Edit - With a tiny risk of offending people on Howland Island (which apparently might just be uninhabited) I'm pretty sure we can call it the 16th for most if not all parties involved.
