Best news ever! I couldn't have hoped for a better dev to take on the Jupiter. I'm in!

Ha, actually nope. It's higher RT CPU usage in Reaper than Arturia at the same polyphony and roughly similar patch... by 10% higher!

Yeah, but how does it sound compared to the Arturia (which I like more than the Roland Cloud version)?

Ouch..... I had briefly downloaded the Arturia J8 and found them about par cpu-wise, but I didn't use Reaper or did any quantitative testing.

It's all there in the ballpark IMO. To me crossmod still sounds best on Roland's version. But just editing patches with RC version is such a painful endeavour because the mouse movements on sliders are NOT smoothed, so you get stepping galore... there is absolutely no excuse for that.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:10 pm Yeah, but how does it sound compared to the Arturia (which I like more than the Roland Cloud version)?

There are a few similar patches made by David Polich on each.
I think that is a good way to test for sound and cpu usage (once you disable effects as I think the Arturia has Reverb and maybe something else that the Tal doesn't have)

Whilst I didn't like the Arturia's OB (based on my extensive use of the OB back in the days, although memories sometimes do exaggerate), I quite like their Jupiter 8 even though I already had use of this. Probably will also buy the Arturia one whenever they have a good sale next on their bundle.

Well.. In Solo mode, the envelope should be mono retriggered don't? By example, using the patch Cars Sync from Jupiter Factory, in solo mode, playing a trill, the envelope should not retrigger for every note. Old Jup-8 from Arturia didn't worked that way and they fixed on the new Jup-8 V4...

Btw, this LFO goes to 40Hz, and you played a part in that inadvertently/unknowingly.waltercruz wrote: Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:20 pm Well.. In Solo mode, the envelope should be mono retriggered don't? I was being too obscure, obviously
I meant that it's straight out the door today and CPU usage may fall over time/as development continues. Arturia's been out a long time.

In fairness Arturia's been out a week
.
But Patrick did communicate to me that cpu usage is a priority for him with it now.
