I won't get to hear it until after work, but I just popped open the GUI. I gotta say I don't love the super low contrast GUI of the TAL version. Dark background, dark fader caps, dark knobs. Really wish he opted for more of a gray background, or at least lighter knobs and fader caps. The subtle outline of the Chorus 1 and Chorus II and other similar buttons is also perhaps a bit too subtle. Why not make the knobs entirely light up?
I'm on an Ultra Wide Screen desktop monitor (2560x1080), have never needed glasses, but the low contrast GUI isn't easy to read until I make it huge. So...while I've beaten Arturia up on their GUI's on the past, this one also has serious flaws.

Interesting.
Whilst for me it is my favourite of his GUI's....and I am very anal and didn't have one comment about the GUI the last few weeks I have had it.
But then again I am using it scaled up. Shows that choices are always good

Unison sounds very different between TAL and Arturia.
Different filter ranges too (and their interaction with key-follow)
As far as "getting a great sound" out of the synth, you're more than good with any of the two.
The synth is clearly not going to be the problem
Talking about "exclusive" features on each synth (aside from the obvious GUI differences subject to personal preference):
Arturia has the upper hand on the modulation options (those are quite great), the sequencer, the effects.
TAL has the upper hand in MPE support and the split mode with dedicated outputs. Both very interesting.

Very Good ! The GUI is really good and definitely my favorite of all the JP-8 VSTs. Is there a way to pan L<>R each individual voice by any chance ? Also do you know how long the discount will last ? thanks

Maybe we should encourage Patrick to add that in the SC section.

Now is time to be nitpicking about solo and legato mode, almost sure that solo mode on Jupiter-8 is legato. A guy on Arturia forum agree with me on this
Well, I'm at work and won't have time to test properly, but anywhay, congrats on the release! It's very likely that I buy it soon or later... what's the limit date for the intro discount?

Yes all kidding aside if someone has the developer's ear can they please ask that the Demo Noise be toned down a bit ?
The frequency of the noise, its volume and duration are all a bit over the top in my opinion.
I have to shut the plugin down after a couple of noise cycles because it makes me want to go on a killing spree.
Ok maybe it's not that bad but it does make trying the demo rather unpleasant and yes I know demos must have some limitations.
I already know I want the plugin but then I want most plugins I don't already own. Now it's just a matter of being able to justify the purchase and that's made a bit difficult by the noise as I try to figure out if Tal J-8 brings a significantly different character to what I already own.

Yes, if the noise could be a bit quieter and maybe not so LONG. It's hard to tell whether or not you like a plugin and want to buy it when all you want to do is turn it off because it's driving you nuts.

Hopefully Patrick can answer when it ends and also the solo legato mode thing (been years since I have played a jupiter 8 so I honestly don't recall)

TBH, I don't have the slightest doubt about which one is closer to the real thing.Niowiad wrote: Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:57 pm Unison sounds very different between TAL and Arturia.

Sorry, you asked for it.
