Hello everyone,

There are many inspiring musicians on Youtube and it's always great to learn about someone new who has talent and the courage to post them playing for public consumption and criticism...

Away from the many excellent producer tutorials (from Youtubers such as 'Mixbus Tv', 'Ricky Tinez' and 'Streaky' to name a few) or specific instrument review videos (by people such as 'Loopop', 'Starsky Carr' and 'Omri Cohen' to name a few), there are a number of musicians who are primarily concerned just with performing original compositions or covers to a high standard.

A couple of my favourites (with recent videos) are:
- the bassist Charles Berthoud (whose various bass techniques, but particularly tapping, are fantastic):

- the 11 year old professional drummer Yoyoka (who has received glowing praise from Dave Grohl, Robert Plant, Roger Taylor etc, and gigged with several very-well known artists):

^^ EDIT: somewhat bizarrely, KVR doesn't seem allowed (at least here in the UK) to play this particular Yoyoka YT video, but if you like drums, it's well worth clicking on the link and visiting Youtube directly for this excellent performance.

- the (primarily) pianist and composer, Tokio Myers (who tends to upload visual videos and live concert videos rather than stripped back stuff):

And as an extra, I've just found the 'TedGreeneArchives' of the amazing guitarist Ted Greene, now deceased:

Anyway, which talented musical performers (who aren't mega, mega stars!) do you rate and enjoy listening to their uploads on Youtube?

Cheers :phones:

I forget the names but two come to mind: one is a Russian group that covers rock classics like Chicago; the other is led by 4 singers, young, who also do some really nice covers...CSN is a particular fav. The girls are little hotties too. :) If I come across I'll post the band names. The second I think is something like "Foxes and Friends" but not sure.

I've recently discovered Moot Booxlé, who seems to have been posting videos on YouTube since its inception back in 2006 or so... His style is so, so gorgeous. Funky Rhodes, Even Funkier synth basses and leads....just pure perfection. He's also a multi-instrumentalist and plays loads of instruments. He has millions of videos, so I will post a few that I found good.

Improv synth-rhodes funk...so effortless:

Funky Odyssey bass here with a live drummer. Yummy

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil
