Hi,

I couldn't find a better way so I ask you guys for your current practice. I am using mainly Bitwig then Cubase 10 and Live 10.5 are my secondary DAW. Normally, I have around 10 versions build from the ground up until it's finished (or hey unfinished). Say my initital project name is: XYZ which has only 8 bars and then I add up to 16 bars with Arp / Lead then my project name will "Save-as" to another project name: XYZ-16bar-arp-lead so on and so forth. I know some DAWs have an internal note pad to write down some notes of the song/project. But I don't know how to add a brief description during the "save" process. That's why I use the above approach to identify which version has what kind of arrangement etc ...

Does anyone do the project-saving like me? Or you have another way that I overlooked?

Thx.

I might have missed something obvious or have a lack of experience, but i don't got your objectives.
Could you expose them ? I mean, what do you do with your old project versions ?

If i was interested in tracking my process, i would rather just take notes in a timetable style sheet.

Note that i never finished a track, but i'm fine with it, i love multitrack noodling. So i don't have multiple project versions and can't help you, but i'm interested in understanding your building process.

I just use the date.

VSTNotepad is a VST plugin that you can use to store comments, lyrics, or any text for each track.
