Another thought I had was Monome Norns. I just ordered one of these (the less expensive version), and see that it uses Lua scripts. I wonder if your Falcon script can simply be loaded into Norns, but at a minimum it would be a good project to add your mangler to existing Norns scripts. If only I had the time to learn . . . .
I don't think it's directly usable, since while the language may be LUA, the whole API of Falcon is probably very different from theirs. But yeah, may be a good exercise - feel free to use my script, but it's possible that things are very different in the Norms.

@fairlyclose: Yeah, if you look at the end of my long post, I mention stochas as one I like better... ;-)
As for Riffer 3: I think it depends a lot on what you want to do, but I personally find the most interesting things happen neither with fully random recreation nor with locking parts but with incremental change.
That's my beef with the plugins from Sugarbytes too... :-)

Cheers,

Tom

Don't remind me... I had high hopes there and bought Cosmos Saturn 4 several years ago.
It was riddled with bugs, was a major crashfest and had a totally obtuse and broken interface... and when I tried to communicate with the dev about it he got very angry at me...
One of the worst investments I ever made, it never really worked...

bummer, I hate unreliable software - been fine for me so far but I have only got onboard in the last year with Fundamental, then cosmosf FX and now Saturn and the Bot bundle.

What I think the cosmosf series needs most is a set of good tutorials. I might do some myself next year. The Bot series are very stable on Win10 for me. Fundamental is a little buggy in one not that important aspect but normally stable.
But then again for me Bitwig hardly ever closes down properly without using task manager, Reaper worked poorly with Kontakt and seemed to regularly need resetting as various unexpected behaviours started.
And I sold Architect as it barely worked in any practical sense, so I think a lot of software delivers far less than is promised - and sometimes that gets me pretty frustrated, other times I can deal with it ok. But generally I think IT skills are much thinner on the ground than the IT industry claims and deception seems rife throughout that industry.

Yeah, it's an "interesting ride" in the chinese sense with software.
I work with so many different applications and in the meantime select my workhorses more depending on the mindset of the devs behind it than pure functionality alone.
Venomode/Phrasebox is a brilliant example, Adam is really open for suggestions and it evolves beautifully.  :tu:
Bitwig thankfully works flawless for me, it's the core of all I'm doing with music and thinks just like I do (and makes working with midi plugins easy as pie). Can't wait for the Midi-Grid!

My main 3D application, SideFX Houdini is also done by really cool people, privately owned and fuelled by sheer passion, not shareholder value (like Autodesk, Adobe, etc. shudder...).

Architect is a real bummer. After all those years, I really would have wished Colin all the success in the world, he's such a nice guy and the system as such is impressive, but somehow it became too much and too little at the same time and he being alone, it's progress is glacial.
I'll have a look at it again when he does the library examples and see if that clears things up for me, but if not, I'm also inclined to let it go. :(

Well, sorry for the ramblings, I better get back to that Plug and Script demo ;-)

Cheers,

Tom

Bitwig might not close properly for me but that is a small price to pay - I think it is a great piece of software for music. A midi grid would be huge.

Any one interested in the Piano Roll by ToyBox Audio?
I am but would like to get it as a single item for less $$ than the bundle price.
Gotta say it looks great at what it can do to midi.

Synth Bundle which includes the Piano Roll now is $52

I am looking at Reason 11 Intro for $54 at https://www.bestservice.com/reason_11_intro.html
Missed the $50 sale last year. Good chance I will get this by 12-31-20.
It is a real bargain
My main interest is the three Players.
Scales & Chords
Dual Arpeggio
Note Echo
And the audio fx to some degree.
I already have a few Players so the Reason 11 Intro will make them usable.

Note that there are a few Players on sale now.
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/brow ... er&pagex=2
Which are your top three Players?

Post

My favorite Reason player is the Quad Note Generator. I've been trying out the new Pattern Mutator today, but quad note is way more inspiring. Another fun one to demo is the Evolution Sequencer.

and if you need a hand with scales, this tool is also on sale:

Looks like all the Players developed by Reason are on sale.
The sale goes on till 12 -31-20.

Interested in the $149 Player Device Bundle https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/bund ... ce-bundle/ It includes Quad Note Generator and seeing the video looks like it will be worth owning. Does this bundle ever go on sale? I hope so as nowadays I never buy any music software unless it is discounted.

I doubt that bundle goes on sale and the only way to get it "cheaper" is by purchasing the full Reason, then grabbing the individual non-Reason devices when they go on sale. That's what i did last year because there were so many instruments i wanted in the Studio version and to buy them one by one was way more expensive. Good luck!

Post

Still not my main DAW and lacking a number of features I find essential, but I’ve renewed for another year, worked out about £84 from JRRShop, in the hope it keeps improving. A MIDI grid and enhanced MIDI handling in general would go a long way towards getting me using it more.

There are five Players developed by Reason on sale for a total of $245.
I can get Reason 11 on sale for $279.
It would make sense to get Reason 11 if I wanted all five Players.
But let me think about your suggestion.

IMO the best player in that bundle is Kompulsion and it's on sale for $19. You can get PSQ1684 for $19 too, while it's not a Player, you can hook it up to Players via the CV-Player. It's more of a Eurorack approach to the generative stuff that Quad Note Generator can do.
Much better bang for the buck.

Just noodling with effects on soon to be released ChordwarePA for 2021.

Many changes were done with the mouse wheel.

This takes you through a series of features using combined sources and should be seen beginning to end.
