This convo has gone all meta.
Bought the synth, hopeful for some updates to address free running OSCs and analog behavior.

Ah, I understand what you mean. It's unobtainium so in this context it is certainly true.revvy wrote: Tue Dec 15, 2020 4:39 pm Haven't misunderstand at all. I also own and love HW.
But the closest I'll ever get to a Jupiter 8 is SW so the fact that I'd 'prefer' the HW is meaningless really - who wouldn't?
Or put another way : ok then, you're right. Let me know when you buy a HW Jupiter 8.
Although, I can meet you half way with a Roland JP-08

I know it is not important, but I would have chosen different steps when scrolling on parameters. Say, 0.20 and with the Shift key pressed 0.01. The Shift key doesn't even seem to work when scrolling, only when clicking and dragging a control.

Just listening to 1 osc in tal j8 , you most def hear these are not static waveforms ,these are certainly modelled and you can hear those subtleties .
The apparent lack of osc drift when both are enabled is indeed strange

Oh no, my computer could not handle multiple instances of those
Up until a few months ago I used mostly Sylenth1, but I switched to Retrologue 2 meanwhile, which delivers similar results as U-he stuff (except for crazy modulations, which I don't need, anyway), but at a tiny fraction of the CPU load.
The one I have basically abandoned is Air's Hybrid 3.

They are free running oscillators, which do not reset with note on, and their instabilities have been modeled.
Of course in the digital world you can tune them to have the same pitch and instabilities.

@TAL
Hardware Jupiter-8 has a Saw-Down wave in the LFO. TAL J-8 has a Saw-Up wave. Am I missing something obvious like an option to get the saw-down waveform?

Close enough for my needs
I just spent half an hour trying to match Retrologue to this new Tal plugin, I like that kind of challenge

The LFO mod controls seem to be bipolar, and there is an inverse switch in the VCO Modulator section.himalaya wrote: Tue Dec 15, 2020 6:46 pm @TAL
