Man is least himself when he talks in the first person. Give him a mask, and he'll show you his true face

Since Vital can do most of what Serum does this discussions/tutorial on snare design from Virtual Riot might be of use: and also one from Au5 using Operator:
One very important note: if you use the LFOs as MSEGs or as oscillators for FM make sure to turn off the smooth or they will not work as you expect.

Struggling with the snares on this.
I made a snare by altering the kick in the free version of Vital, here it is if it may be of use, adjust to taste:

Can you render vital to audio and start chopping / stretching / reversing the audio inside your DAW? It's not using any effects, just regular capabilities within any DAW.

eg. if I want a reverse snare effect, can I render the snare in vital to audio, then reverse it?

RULES:

Samples:

- No use of samples, sample libraries or live sounds (like voice, guitar etc allowed). However, for convenience or CPU saving, synth bouncing are allowed but only where the EXACT same result could have been achieved using the original synth: This means that for example pitching and reversing is not allowed; sampling a bass drum in order to get a consistent sound is not allowed either...

- More Clarification: Audio must not be touched at all once it leaves the DAW (i.e. after bouncing a track or a stem). For example: One cannot master the audio in another software or service. Also, If you need more performance / CPU a workaround is to freeze all the tracks.

I'm no expert, but I can think of ways Vital should be able to create something like a reverse snare sound, using the LFOs. In fact you could create a snare and put the LFO in reverse using another, couldn't you?

Thanks for all the replies re Snares. I'll get looking and see if I can fix 'em.

Im pretty ok at making snares, but I struggle quite a bit when it comes to cymbals of all sorts.. Crashes and rides in particular..

Anyone got some tips/tutorials that I could use that are actually usefull!?

On top some more mixing for adding some punch... try to turn up the volume. Pretty clear punch already. Changed the Bdr a little to be more present, removed stuff out of the way of it. The phasey pad has still some ugly resonances. Need to work on that.
This is excellent, Peter.

Thanks Teilo!

I have spent some more time with the track. Created a second snare which has better punch. Added the missing "vocals" and did some fun with vocal wavetables ... Tipp: try to type in some vocals just for the sake of "klang" / sound like "tee too tah tuu tii" and then add a.) a random step modulator which jumps around your wavetable and b.) a ramp up modulator which then scans from the position where the random modulator has been jumping too... Second thing is - When you use a "tee too tah tii" to modulate another rather basic wavetable that might be fun...

On top of that I've added a new part towards the end (at around 1:45): https://soundcloud.com/p-e-t-e-r-h/osc1 ... ko5#t=1:45
