Post

Uhm...what does your music sound like??

You won't be getting any deals if it aint no good!

i like to call it melodic trance. It has a steady beat, and some strong lead synths.

Well, if you produce melodic trance like 10 million other dudes and dudettes, you'd be better of getting your stuff released yourself because no label will touch melodic trance if it isn't EXTREMLY good or you're a BIIIIG name in the music biz...sorry but that 's the way it is...Trance have a bad rep these days so if you really want a record deal...take the progressive route...

And as I said, try to relese it yourself thru EDM or similar.

i can't make progressive. I don't know why, but it just does'nt come to me.

well, when I say progressive I mean be creative... it's not about making progressive house or trance but make progressive tunes...that are interesting!

But let us know when your webpage is up and I'll have a listen!

'Record deals' are really lame these days. With the amount of coverage one can get by merely posting a song or two to a MP3 site, and coming here and saying 'Takes A Wisten Ebee Won!' You stand a much better chance of praise and criticism than having 1000 CD's sitting in your basement and maybe only selling 5 every 2 months, deal or no deal. :(

Get your website going, and don't snub SoundClick or Electromancer et al MP3 sites. They got people that are REALLY into music and listen to ANYTHING it seems? You get ALOT more hits at any one of these in a month than your own website can do in a year! :-o

'Record deals' don't make you money - you make THEM money. And the way I figure it, I made some record label loose thousands of dollars by not having me signed LOOOONG ago. :hihi:

Everyone knows that its impossible to get a tarnce record deal, and that you have to sell out and make curnk...

My advice would be to spend a few weeks compiling a list of labels appropriate to your brand of trance. Once you have established who exactly you want to release your music things may become al little clearer, since you have the ability to use their previous releases are a reference.

Next, get the music out there. Get dj's to play it in clubs, get it on the radio... this all helps. If a label knows that Dj's are playing your tracks and that they ar working in the clubs, then this at least gives you a bit of cred.

But really, the one most important factor has to be the quality of your work (obviously! :D ). So many people are making poor / mediocre trance music today that labels are pretty reluctant to release stuff unless it is top notch. Trance is very hard to mix, so if you have any doubt at all regarding your mixes then get an engineer to give some work first. This might cost you, but if the results are you getting a release then it will all be worth it.
