It's up to 12 voices per part, so up to 24 total.

It is my impression, not scientifically proven though.Sinisterbr wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:50 pmAre you sure about this? I never heard they could be driven (but won't be complaining if they actually can)dermage wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 11:49 am @ED: TAL-Mod is must have IMO, these OSC/Filters and Envelope possibilities with this HQ sound I didn't find in other synths. It's really easy to work with and has a good layout and uses few resources (besides CPU if you go full poly)
Remember to increase the volume on the OSCs though, I find it just sounds better (driven?) when they are past the 50% mark.
Probably the filter is more driven then.
My impression is that I get a different, thinner sound when I up the volume at the amp/track fader instead of the OSC level.
This may be all in my head though, but often I up the sound there and the OSC seems to sound fatter.

Watch the poly-voice count. Reduce it from 12, if that's what you have. You can easily get away with 6 poly voices on such big, layered sounds.

But it does work like that on other synths. I don't know how it works inside, but if there are 127 values, the value range could be divided into equal value sub-ranges, within each of which the same waveform gets selected.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:49 pm I wouldn't call that a bug , it's just the way how the mouse wheel behaviour is implemented .
Imagine that every wheel click is one value , but the osc waveform selector has a midi range of 126 values , selecting 4 waveforms
You can do the math yourself![]()

I would again like to urge/enourage people who are finding bugs and issues to email Patrick. That way you can ensure that he has been made aware of the issue/bug.

Indeed it's not. Micro-tweaking the calibration would likely make the tuning more precise than you'd get from the front panel alone. So you'd have to include that to be 100% surev1o wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 11:46 amThats just one example but is it definitive proof? How do we know that this person's JP8 has been properly serviced and calibrated, and is performing up to spec?
That said, even if possible, it would drift over time. So the original point does still stand. IE You're not really gonna come across hardware which does it, at least not without the hardware being modded or deliberately calibrated for the purpose.
Anyway, nice of TAL to offer a solution without the need to desolder anything

Soo..

And kudos to whomever it was who came up with the compromise quite a few pages ago.

Huge thanks to Patrick on the latest updates!
To some it's ED, and to a lesser extent me, being pedantic, but I think it's ultimately assisted in resulting in a better, more realistic emulation. We're at the point with VST emulations, with great oscs, filters, and envelopes, where small differences like that become important for replicating the hardware-like experience. Otherwise, we'd have declared VSTi's "good enough" ten years ago and stopped trying to emulate the little things like drift and matching the voice assignments modes and quirky envelope behavior and slop.
Seriously appreciate this.

Yes, it's not obvious at first but now that you know that, you can work with it right?

You know...I never even demoed Tal Mod but I may pick it up soon just as a way of saying thanks. I hear it's excellent and things like the quick enhancement to the SC panel for VCO's just give me warm and fuzzies.
