I have had more than those two bits of items you quoted of communication with the developer on the matter.
You aren't correct why the option was added.
I am finished with it.
In the end he provided an option that everyone can be happy with.

Well you can ask Patrick if you can share the rationale from your private correspondence or ask him to provide something you or he can post publicly. Otherwise, I'm going off the changelog and taking it at face value (unwanted behavior removed, default changed). Don't care why frankly. Believe it be the right move.
But it's 100% ok with me if we never hear another word on the topic. Trust me, I'm BEYOND happy to move on from this.

There sure is some Windows guideline for this.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 7:01 pm Small feature request/tweak: the Tal User Presets get saved to a subfolder in "AppData\Roaming\" in Windows. I'm venturing to guess a lot of people aren't going to backing up this folder compared to the more common Documents folder. I'd like to request that User Presets get stored in Documents\ToguAudioLine\[synthname] to help make sure that any user created content is where Windows and other backup software expects them to be. Just as a best practice IMO. The factory presets can still go to the current location, or if it's easier to have them in one place, then Documents too. I think it's just cleaner and more commonplace.
Anyways, what I do is to have an own preset folder with subfolders catalogued by synth name and to make symbolic links pointing to my own preset folders on the plugin's default preset location.
This way you have full control.
Info on the topic. The more interesting part might be "How to Create Symbolic Links with a Graphical Tool".

Patrick replied to me with a bit more detail regarding oscillator tuning, based on his 14-bit Jupiter 8.
"I was able to set it almost exact with an oscilloscope. The phase
drifted very slow, almost not notable. But as said above, this was
only the case for exact this voice. The other voices had different
detunings. The pitch is pretty stable on the later 14 bit models.
Most instabilities of the VCO's are in the > 100 Hz range. You can see
them with a spectrum analyzer."
So adding those trimmers to SC page was exactly the right thing to do! We should be able to put this one to rest now

I'm just grateful that Patrick mostly ignores these threads.

Patrick can handle the criticism , this is not about what's wrong with the plugin becasue imho there is nothing wrong with it .
Everything is uber-quality from the get go , like any other tal commercial plugin , just a few minor tweaks to make it even better.
It's not that this thread is overloaden with bug reports and inferior coding issues , it simply can't be becasue this is TAL

Calling BS on your BS. Yes, there’s a few rich folks out there that can afford to buy the latest new toy and toss it aside less than a year later (just like touring musicians have always done), but there’s not as many people doing that as you think. I’ve had most of my hardware (below) for over 20 years, and rarely sell anything... outside of Eurorack modular gear (which is the closest thing to software plugins in the hardware world). Even then, I’ve been overwhelmingly content to stick with the modules I’ve bought or built.mholloway wrote: Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:56 pmLOL. BS. Every 'hardware dude' I know is constantly selling, buying, re-selling, and GASing over their next acquisition. Last months' 'perfect piece of kit' is next month's Craigslist ad.
It's no different, just a hell of a lot more expensive.

I think if the tools are really good, I keep coming back. If you can't settle you're doing something wrong. I would never give away my workhorse synths. And *all* TAL synths are in constant use here. They sound great, inspire, and are quite easy to setup, perfect for a working musician who needs a quick workflow to channel creativity.

Interesting that the Arturia one has so many more little harmonics in the basic waveform shapes. The Tal version has a much more perfect shape. Are these the types of differences between hardware units? Or is the Arturia one just weird?

...and totally silly, especially that every interested person can download demos and try both for themselves. We now have entered a new era where people watch tedious comparison videos like this, rather than actually try the synths themselves. Mind boggling.
Both synths sound fantastic and both will give great 'Jupiter-8' sounds, so for me it's about how I find the UX, the workflow, the stuff that makes using a synth a pleasure.
