Go2

Post

Four months down the track and I am still using Go2 fairly regularly and still finding new uses for it. It's got a nice, fat sound and it is very easy to work with. I still don't understand all the subtleties of the oscillator but I enjoy playing around with it to see what I can get out of it. For the price of a case of good beer, it's worked out to be pretty good value.

BONES wrote: Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:09 am I find Go2 really frustrating. It makes a lot of really good sounds on it's own but when I put it into a mix it never seems to work and I end up replacing it with something else. It works well enough when I am searching for something to build a new song around, it can be quite inspiring, but ultimately it ends up being replaced before a song is finished. I'm not annoyed that I spent $49 on it, just a little disappointed that it's not as good as it feels like it could be.

I realise that your world is completely static and once something proves itself less than worthy that your attitude towards it can never change but I have this amazing thing called an "open mind". It's an important part of something even more important - learning and growing as an artist. So if you had quoted something I'd said after my recent post, you might have a point but all you are doing is pointing out to everyone how clever I am to have sorted out the issues I'd been having. I, of course, am far too humble to tootle my own flute like that but I do appreciate you doing it for me.

It would be nice to see the chord mode (in the arp) from GO2 in other RP synths, like Blue2, Predator2...

Any Go2 user here? Need help to decide to buy or not to buy...

I own mainly U-he freeware stuff, but this one could replace my Podolski (it seems). I downloaded it several times, made quick loops with several instances and almost zero CPU usage, uninstalled it, 2 days later installed it again... but still not sure to buy it or not. (Now it's on sale 50%off).

My current set up is: DS Thorn, Zebralette, ZebraCM, Podolski, TripleCheese and DuneCM. If I buy Go2, one of these plugins has to say good bye.

Thanks for reading and help.

If you can't decide if Go2 is for you or not by trying the demo how is what any of us might say going to help ?

I think Go2 is a great synth but read the comment above to see just how opinions can vary wildly from person to person.

At the sale price of $25 I think Go2 is an absolute steal but if you don't like it then it could be a waste of money.

Ok that begs the question why does one have to say goodbye if you buy Go2?

It's serial number but challenge response. You'll get a serial number that you enter when installing the plugin. When you first run the plugin you get a Computer ID number which you enter into the My Products section in your account. You then get an Activation Code which you enter into the plugin's activation window.

It's really painless, only takes a minute or so and I have no fear Rob Papen is going anywhere so I trust the site will always be there for the foreseeable future.

I also own Blue 2, Predator 2, Blade 2, and Punch 2 and the freebies you get for registering so I'm pretty well entrenched with Rob Papen. I think you get the free AMod FX plugin for registering Go2 and I think you'll also get Prisma which is a plugin that allows you to layer all of his synths in any configuration, add FX etc. Very cool plugin.

Rob also does frequent videos and live streams on YouTube where he shows how to get the most of of all of the RP plugins. :tu:

Perfect! Thanks. Challenge response does not seems good as key file/serial number, but if it's painless...

I just installed my second authorization on this system and it only took a minute. The only fear with C/R is that the developer will go out of business and shut his website down.

I don't see that happening and Rob seems like the kind of guy that would ensure we could still authorize the plugins if he ever did decide to close shop. I don't fear losing any of my RP plugins.

No, it's all mine, thanks. Comes from writing lyrics for 40 years.

By a strange coincidence, my bandmate just sent me something he's been working on that uses Go2, running through Linda Rockstack (which he likes as much as I do) and it's the first time I've thought of Go2 in ages. It had problems recalling settings in Cubase so I ended up replacing it in all the albums tracks I'd used it in and, since then, haven't bothered with it. I should dig it out again and give it a whirl in Studio One and see how it goes.

To be honest, though, I don't think it's one of those synths anyone really needs, it doesn't do anything extraordinary or unique, but it definitely has it's place for quick and easy patching.

on the fence for Go2, me like morphing. blade 2 is thé synth for me, but budget control has taken over.

i have the demo of Go2, so i can easily determine it myself, but sometimes i demo a synth, it doesn't do it for me. and a half year later or so, i buy it, and think, what! why didn't i like, i can get what i want!

and time+space gives a nice discount..

I just got Blade 2 and am getting to know it, very luscious sound. I like Go2 as well. Makes some very interesting sounds. If it's still on sale for $50 that's a steal in my book.

But not every synth is for everybody since we all make different music and all have different styles and tastes. I've always felt that if you have to demo a synth for any length of time before deciding if you like it or not then it's probably not for you or as you said come back later and try it again. :tu:
