So the Arturia version doesn't have the (important) Key Modes from Jupiter-8? I had to check this now, as when I was using the demo previously I didn't pay attention to the rest of the engine. So, really JUP8-V can't emulate the whole Jupiter-8...or am I missing something?teilo wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:21 pm The mult-timbral is in fact the single biggest advantage of the J-8.
If so, it makes TAL J-8 an even more attractive proposition, since it can really emulate Jupiter-8 while JUP8-V can not.

The only reason I regret selling mine is that I could have gotten four times as much if I had held on to them for another couple of decades....DuX wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:11 pmand I used them throughout the 90s, until I still regret selling all my analogue gear.

Thanks for the positive feedback, @Teksonik, @chk071, @e-crooner @halonmusic , @Zvenx.
Since I bought J-8, I can't stop making sounds and music with it. Such a nice synth... thank goodness I'm on holiday now, so I can enjoy it properly.
Takes me back to when I had a real Jupiter-8 at my disposal for three months...

I made these sound very mid-centric, overdriven on purpose, to give it a certain lo-fi, 'worn out' feel, but of course, I don't want people to feel any discomfort. What headphones are you using?e-crooner wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:03 pm The drums from 1:00 on sound a bit harsh, though, they almost hurt on the headphones...

Jup 8 V has no key modes. So it's really half a Jupiter 8 in that regard. I think their reasoning is fairly straightforward: Just use two instances.himalaya wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:37 pmSo the Arturia version doesn't have the (important) Key Modes from Jupiter-8? There are 'soundsets' and they are soundsets.
Let's hear some of yours since it is 'pretty easy'.

Am I the only one who thinks the OSC sync sounds a bit weak? I (unsurprisingly) don't have the actual hardware to compare to, but if I compare to other VA softies with OSC sync (e.g. OP-X Pro II or Super 8 ) it seems J-8 sounds kind of fizzy and diffuse by comparison.
A well-behaved signature.

Why not both? I can make my own sounds and still occasionally buy presets.

I meant making your own sounds in general. Nothing wrong with using pre made sounds, but most presets are basic sounds wich anyone can make. Didnt mean it the way it was written. Long day, quite a few pints. Sorry.zvenx wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 10:10 pmThere are 'soundsets' and they are soundsets.

Np...
I guess I usually dont' find the preset banks from my repeat sound designers I buy from basic at all.
And I always believe sound design is a creative talent that one can learn up to a point.. (like graphic design or even being a musician. I will never be an eddie vanhalen or Herbie Hancock not even if I practice 20 hours for the rest of my life).
I actually made some of my own J-8 presets but I already know any patch Himalaya for instance does will be a million times better than mine.

Silly question. Could someone explain what’s digital on the hardware JP-8? 14-bit refers to the D/A of what?

I mostly regret selling Jupiter-4, Matrix-6, PPG 2.3, Promars, Korg Polysix, and Arp Axxe. I didn't like the rest of the gear that much. I mean, these could still be useful and they're all different sounding beasts.Teksonik wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:42 pmThe only reason I regret selling mine is that I could have gotten four times as much if I had held on to them for another couple of decades....DuX wrote: Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:11 pmand I used them throughout the 90s, until I still regret selling all my analogue gear.![]()
Still, when you mix ITB with all these synths from last 5 years or even a decade, the difference is really not earth shattering.
