Fuzz plugins?

New KVR member here. I'm a Reaper user, and have participated at the Reaper forum. I'm on the hunt for a Fuzz plugin. I've never used one, and have no idea if one would do what I want, but I thought I'd get an idea from more seasoned folks at KVR. I'm not opposed to buying one but I might like to try something free first, to see how fuzz plugins perform. I love fuzz pedals. My number one right now is a Langtronics Fuzz Face clone with AC128's.

For free look at Face Bender: http://distorqueaudio.com/plugins/face-bender.html
For paid look at:
Audiority's Blue Face (Fuzz Face) and Big Goat (EHX Ram's Head) are considered some of the best and are relatively inexpensive, on sale right now $10 each (also look at the pedalboard bundle). You can download the demos to try it out.
I personally like Runciter as part of Uhbik but that only makes sense if you want the rest of Uhbik or want Uhbik 2.0 whenever it comes out (as a free upgrade). The Uhbik 2.0 alpha adds a lot of modulation options to it which I've been enjoying immensely (think wah + fuzz) but if you want a straight-up fuzz pedal then it's probably overkill.
Line 6 Helix Native has a great sounding variety of fuzz.

I like the Kuassa Efektor fuzz as well as the audiority plugins.
Helix native has some great ones if my HX FX hardware is anything to go by, but not the cheapest option!
I don't know of any digital fuzz face that can recreate the volume-knob interaction, unfortunately.

Kuassa stuff is ace. The fuzz pedal spans a number of types of pedal fuzz, and is excellent.

Both AmpliTube models do. The Red "Fuzz Age" is a germanium Fuzz Face, and the silver "Fuzz Age 2" is a silicon Fuzz Face, probably modeled on the JHF1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face.imrae wrote: Sat Dec 19, 2020 7:38 am I don't know of any digital fuzz face that can recreate the volume-knob interaction, unfortunately.
And there's another 5 fuzz pedals in AmpliTube, plus a Big Muff Pi which oddly they don't categorize as a fuzz, for a total of 8 fuzz pedals. All 8 react dynamically to the guitar's volume knob the way a fuzz pedal should.

I don't think this guy asks for 400$ amp sims, but rather a standalone fuzz plugin.
Audiority Blue Face/Big Goat, Audified MultiDrive Pedal Pro, Kuassa Efektor FZ3603 Fuzz, Nembrini Audio EK Edstortion, Fuse Audio Labs El Germano and Big-Sur muff.
Analog Obsession Pig Pie and Zupaa for freewares. Audio Damage FuzzPlus 3, which I think they dropped officially, but you can find it elsewhere.

You know, you can purchase individual stomps in the Custom Shop for a few bucks each, or purchase the Jimi Hendrix edition to get just about all of the fuzz pedals for $99€ or less in one go.
But anyways, I was addressing imrae’s statement about no software models recreating volume knob interaction. I don’t know how true that is overall, but at least as for AmpliTube, they do. He may be right about all other models, and if he is then you’d have to go with the AmpliTube models if that’s important to you. Playing against the guitar’s volume knob is a very big part of how you play a fuzz pedal properly.

The Distorque Audio one is nice. The Fuse Audio one as well. Both are free.
You could also just use any flexible clipper plugin with the shape set almost to hard clipping (but not fully - say around 90% hard clipping). Look up "fuzz transfer curve" on Google Image search.

Yes. Including the completely free version.

I wholeheartedly recommend checking out Audiority's offerings - Was processing some spoken word with Wires last night and Blue Face added even more to that wonderfully broken tone.yellowmix wrote: Sat Dec 19, 2020 4:39 am Audiority's Blue Face (Fuzz Face) and Big Goat (EHX Ram's Head) are considered some of the best and are relatively inexpensive, on sale right now $10 each (also look at the pedalboard bundle). FFS, how many times do you need told the same thing?
Yes. The 'free version' is Amplitube CS. CS as in 'Custom Shop'. So you buy and can use stuff from the Custom Shop.
I mean it explains it all right on the webpage, how hard would it have been to go check there for yourself?
"AmpliTube Custom Shop offers a revolutionary new way to expand your virtual gear library: however you want! Over 400 gear models, available to demo and purchase a la carte, so you can unlock just the gear you want or need...
you'll have access to every piece of gear from all AmpliTube collections, available to try out at your convenience, and purchase individually, in custom bundles, or as an entire collection."

Agreed on Audiority. Luca gives them away for peanuts on sale, these are good stuff, the "keepers".
Kuassa also does generous sales.
Support in both cases is exemplary. no apathy, contempt or lameness. I only got positivity and efficiency each and every time.
I often prefer dealing with small companies, where people are more in control of their work, as opposed to large corps, where support if often confused and needs a certain amount of redirects and back and forths to provide you with an answer to a rather simple question.
