Great, I found the post with the HW/TAL comparison.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:45 amSomeone in the Gearslutz TAL thread did a basic comparison yesterday against his hardware. More tests are supposed to be coming.4damind wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:33 am Has anyone seen a test where the TAL J-8 is compared to the hardware?
Btw, yes, the comment about the more "low end" was a comment on Youtube. I also saw that someone compared different waveforms Arturia vs TAL (of course as always with different opinions in the comments).

After spending some time with J-8, I'm noticing a certain tone characteristic to it, which can be described as 'pillowy lushness'.

Can we hear yours?Vortifex wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 9:02 amI mean no offence to anyone but those are pretty standard analogue sounds that anyone who's used synths for a while should be able to make.zvenx wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 1:24 am For those who always like to say, if you aren't making your own presets you are a wuss.
I present exhibit A above.
I have had the synth for weeks longer than EH. I have made some patches in that time.
None of them are of the quality of EH.
I stick to my lane..... He makes them, I play them.

i think his point is that it's a fairly basic VA, so the sounds are going to be fairly limited, the kinda stuff any VA can do, and commonly have in factory banks. He didn't say they were bad or anyone could do better....zvenx wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 10:42 amCan we hear yours?Vortifex wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 9:02 amI mean no offence to anyone but those are pretty standard analogue sounds that anyone who's used synths for a while should be able to make.zvenx wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 1:24 am For those who always like to say, if you aren't making your own presets you are a wuss.

I am wondering if we can get some cpu usage data on a couple of presets on the TAL Jupiter? I am wanting to know specifically from people who are running 10 core or more processors using Cubase. Latency settings would matter as would the specific preset and the used polyphony. I’m ordering my computer parts and presently on a 6 core 12 thread 3930k. This plugin really gives this cpu a stress test. I though it might be worthwhile to see how a more recent machine comes with its demands. Any takers?
Great work on this plugin... sounds alive to me.

And yet in my opinion most don't.
Certainly synapse doesn't. Which you may or may not recall is one of my 'things' with synapse (that and the browser).
Really good sounding synths, great cpu usage, but for sure the factory sound design imho do not cover these 'fairly basics' as you call them.
I have been begging Himalaya to do a sound bank for Legend and Obsession for awhile now, since they both respectively have been out.

And as I mentioned, in the only TAL vs Arturia video I found (the one linked to earlier in this thread), the ONE comment actually criticized the Arturia lowend. So, it would be nice to have a link to the source of your video.

Agreed and Agreed.
After years of playing EH's patches though I find them beyond the ordinary/basic....others clearly can disagree and have had a different experience.
