So went to the show yesterday, wasnt aware its been 12 yeatrs since their last presence.

Man those goth chicks everywhere were really nice !

The first portion was an solo perfromer named otto van schirach. Hes once crazy fu(k using a laptop and an mixer (or MPC not sure).

Now the puppy portion -

VERY LOUD

Ogre was dressed up in a monster suit jumping across the stage.

He later removed his suit and covered himself with (fake) blood and goo ! he was also using a miniature camera that was displaying on the back screen.

THe keyboardist (the new guy ?) also had percussions in his side plus 2 keys with the logo taped ;-) so I couldnt see what it was. There was a rack behind him with gear I coulnt quite see.

He also had a sequencer (logic ?)behind him on a Mac laptop. He would load a new sequence once in a while. The file loaded up in a flash.

The drummer had a real pearl drum with pads also.
I especially liked the crazy solo on that song from "last rites", "the torturer" I think.

The guitarist has somewhat a minimal role in this show but uses a double axe with bass and guitar.

There was a very large video screen behind him a TV's on the floor with clips showing hitler and bush and gas pumps and human-monkey skulls etc...

Very interesting.

Got photos will post on my personnal website lter today when getting back from work.

I hope they will come back soon.

Hehe... the "new" guy isn't new at all, but rather Cevin Key, you know, the guy who has always written a large portion of Puppy's stuff, and has written almost all of the stuff since Dwayne Goettel died. Cevin writes the music, Ogre adds lyrics and vocals, and then Cevin fits the vocals in. Of course they've had contributors as well (such as Otto himself for the new album), but most of the work is done by Cevin.

One one laptop, Logic was running, but it was only running one track... looked like it was running one wav file for each song. Anyone near the stage could see exactly when one song was going to end, and the next one begin (not that most were paying attention)On the other laptop I could have swore I saw FM7 running, but I'm not entirely sure.

Great show... I was VERY impressed with Ogre's performance... his vocals AND his stage presence/working of the crowd.

Don't worry Bones... There's always Killing Joke to look foward too. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1 of the Skinny Puppy members did die from a overdose awhile back did they not? I always thought it was Cevin or Ogre - but good to hear they are alive and well! :hihi:

I saw those guys almost 17 years ago in a club on South Beach about as big as a KFC..When the blood started flowing NO ONE was spared..

the member who died was dwayne goetel.. i believe he did some of the keyboarding stuff with cevin and drums.

he died in 92 before they finished the process.

I went see them on Oct 30 in Jacksonville,
I had seen them earlier this summer a little bit closer to home, but the Jacksonville show I thought was alot better...honestly one of the best shows Ive seen in a long time.
The tracklist was the same as before, but with a few added songs, like hexonxonx(the theatrics during this song was crazy, Ogre got attacked by two terrorists who later reveal themselves to be bush and cheney who then zeik heil the crowd), deepdown trauma hounds, and they played more from the process this time, the backing video for Curcible was insane
They dedicated Harsh Stone White to a fan who died recently, Ogre flashed a photo at the crowd and blew white power from his hand, followed by a powerfull perfomance.
The band didnt seem to get tired or bored towards the end of the show, the energy level was alive and well, and they gave us like three encores...
All in all, it was an experience I wont soon forget, and my wife actually enjoyed the show this time around. :hihi:
