Stereo is almost mono, is it 1972 again?
In 1972, or a little bit later actually, quadrophonic systems started to be all the rage... the result of too much acid consumption, I think, and I don't mean hydrochloric acid... that one would make them hear absolutely nothing, most literally.

As an afterthought, I think quadrophonic system makes some sense. Well, as much as 5.1, maybe even more... But we do have only two ears, after all. :phones: Binaural stuff is totally cool, and works in stereo. Cheers!

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.

Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team.

I doubt it that after almost 50 years they would be able to crack open a beer-can, let alone solve a military problem, but they could be useful in care homes, as entertainers perhaps. :hihi:

Maybe they could be useful if they decided to learn how to produce music with a DAW and TAL synths! :dog: :D

Hi,

I was testing J-8 a bit. Found it impossible to use pitch and panning per note using MPE. A pitch slide up seems to also fadein the sound by volume, and panning per note does not seem to have any effect. I enabled MPE in the synth and in bitwig instrument settings... ?

Hm, so no volume and no paning per note in MPE mode?

Also, can I somehow set the start volume of the attack face in to 0?

Please add:
- Volume/gain per note in MPE mode
- Pan per note in MPE mode
- extra LFO for vibrato, and extra fadein / amount

Pitch and volume are the supported MPE parameters... I think that’s hard coded. Enable MPE in the Bitwig inspector, then press the MPE button at the top of the synth’s window, then turn up the MPE pitch and volume controls close to the bottom of the synth window to the desired amount. The volume control at 100% will make pressure map to volume, silencing the attack.

Filter and volume are the two with controls. (Pitch bends according pb range).

Voice pan added in SC and pitch bend display values corrected in 1.1.9!

Fantastic update! Love the per voice pan pots.

Yep great stuff. Just e-mailed Patrick with a notice that SC random button doesn't actually randomize panpots :)

I noticed that and assumed it's by design. I wouldn't want it to. I'm using random for slop. Don't want it for random pan.

Post

I totally would want it personally :D Gimme more panning flavors! Maybe under Ctrl+click or something.

Random panning sounds like fun, until you find that the interaction between the Intensity knob and pan wasn't having the desired effect at low values (very narrow pans), and at extreme values needed to get the pans good and wide, you just made the synth completely out of tune and unplayable. And then a quarter of your pans are still going to be somewhere completely silly. Nah...Gonna disagree on that feature request. Let's keep the random+insensity for slop, and treat Pan like the trimmers on an OB-8 where you pan voices separate from the voice tuning process and as desired.
