BYOME is nice tho if you have Kilohearts toolbox it appears redundant. Also imo it is difficult to use because of so much scrolling sideways.

Post

Pretty much everything by Unfiltered Audio is worth having imho.

Yeah.... Selling really good plug ins for cheap is terrible...
Yeah putting silly high list prices on average sounding plugins then putting them on sale for what they're actually worth in order to sucker people into buying them is terrible.

Not to mentions their constant "All Plugins for $29" that does not in fact include ALL plugins.
Is there any discernable difference between these three consoles?

Post

All their consoles do sound different to me. I have them all and use the SSL 9000 and 4000 the most. Typically I use them on drums. I do a lot of acoustic drum recordings and the SSL channel strips get the sound I am looking for.

Yea, there is definitely a difference.
Do you need all of them?
Well, that that depends on your $$.

Which console would be the best all rounder then? (more for synth/acoustic based music rather than drums)

Post

With the additional $20 off coupon, some good ones can be had for $10, like bx_oberhausen or the SSL G (and the N), or the Townhouse comp, or the Vitalizer EQ, or the bx_masterdesk.
Maybe best to pick one with “TMT inside”.

Without getting into the subjective adjectives, for such souces I would reach for the N or Focusrite before the 4000's version.

Focusrite console is very good :) love to overdrive it

Post

Ah OK I already have the Focusrite so probably don't need the others then

i think i will get Triad for my sound design needs, really like BYOME

Don't miss out on those awesome Ampeg Amp sims and bx_Oberhausen (Oberheim SEM emulation) both from Brainworx. Also look at ProAudioDSM DSM V3, SPL Hawkeye and the offerings from elysia. The Unfiltered Audio Bass-Mint and Brainworx bx_subsynth seems to be covering similar territory. Out of all the PA plugins I find those the most essential.

Got the Oberhausen for $9.99 and getting Masterdesk next :)

Oberhausen indeed sounds good. Iwould say excellent for $9 price ;) I just had fun recreating Van Halen's Jump.
Only reverb in Oberhausen is awful. I suppose that it's bx_room? No wonder people have bad opinions about this one. It sounds like the first reverb plugins ever created :D
Also Oberhausen has nice punch. Definitely worth $9

The Maag EQ4 is still pretty decent, imho. Yet, that GUI is getting tinier & tinier.
