Yeh that's the truth, seems like they've been talking about zebra 3 for at least 10 years

Actually, the first rumours started in 2006. They weren't started by us, but they never went away. We tried to ignore them or have a laugh, but about 8 years ago, those rumours started hampering our business as people were stopping to buy Z2 in expectation of an imminent update.
Our post from 2012, was the attempt of saying that Zebra2 won't be obsolete, and that only little work has been put into a major upgrade. Due to its optimistic tone it has been misread as an official announcement, which I have regretted ever since.

A year ago I was sure it would be out by now. But then again things dragged on, an epidemic changed how we work, people could not be hired, others left, Uhbik 2.0 is still not ready even though we wanted to release it in May 2020. Now Uhbik is my responsibility and from the looks of it it may take me well into 2021 to finish it. By then I'm sure Apple has new wrench they throw at us so we'll be updating everything again. So let's assume 2022.HcDoom wrote: Sun Dec 27, 2020 4:26 pm So, Urs, can you finally say when we can expect Z3? Is it end of 2021 or 2022? With this info, you will definitely settle some soul problems for 99% of users.![]()

Can't imagine it's easy with the high expectations and everyone so eagerly waiting for its arrival. I'm also very excited to see what it's going to be. However I am happy to wait as long as it takes - always better to take your time and get things right than to rush. As long as I know it's still coming I'm happy.
But I sure would like to be a fly on the wall at u-he sometimes...

I just couldn't pass up the current sale price on Zebra 2 and The Dark Zebra, partly to get the upgrade to Zebra 3 when it is released! I had never previously given Zebra much of a chance. I didn't really understand it. But now that I've spent a little time with it and am beginning to get it, I am sold! It's great! It is showing its age in a few places though. I can't wait for Zebra 3! For one, I would love to have some MPE support, at least like what is currently available in Diva and Repro. It is wonderful to be able to do independent pitch bends or manually control the swell of different simultaneous notes with poly pressure. For cinematic and ambient stuff, this is invaluable! For now, I guess I can use multiple instances of Zebra to do that.

I say put Uhbik 2.0 aside for the moment and make Zebra 3 the number one priority!Urs wrote: Sun Dec 27, 2020 4:55 pm A year ago I was sure it would be out by now. Noooooooooooo....
Uhbik should have been released on January 2020:
and besides, Urs just wrote that Uhbik is his responsibility, so no one should mess with Urs responsibilities
Uhbik should have been released on January 2020:
unlike Zebra, uhbik already had a public alpha and a released date announced (and people purchased it before January 2020 to still enjoy the €149 price tag)."Until release, the price stays €149, then (mid of January) goes up to €199. (Consider the current price tag an introduction offer to V2.0)
and besides, Urs just wrote that Uhbik is his responsibility, so no one should mess with Urs responsibilities

EDIT: My bad. The FX in Zebrify sits on the same matrix, so this thing really rocks and this message is a brain fart.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
One thing that feels bad on Zebrify is that the FX part of Zebra has the actual FX removed to not cannibalize sales on other products I suppose. With that the opportunity to modulate on the same plugin FX is lost. It feels deliberately crippled.
I suppose that because of all this modern marketing stuff, Zebra 3 won't have Zebrify. A real shame if I'm right.
It would be nice first to have Zebrify on Zebra 3, and then to be able to activate features on Zebrify if you own other U-he's products, so you unlock. E.g. diva/repro filters if you have Repro, delay if you have Colour copy, many of them if you have Uhbik, etc. This is marketing in itself motivating to buy more products.
Because if not, Uhbik is not going to get comb filters, oscillators and really powerful modulations and Zebrify is not going to have FX. Marketing makes the world a worse place.

Well, Uhbik - as you might know - was in the hands of the two developers who left us this year. Therefore its responsibility went back to me, and I'm using it to introduce our new guys into our stuff (but I can not yet fully palm it off to them). Bit of a slam-head-on-desk year for us, in that respect.
