I had some issues in the past with the NVIDIA "game" drivers, because they where prioritizing graphical performance over system performance. Especially the GeForce Experience garbage stuff is to be avoided like the plague if you want to run system-intensive stuff.

As I have two computers - One for gaming and one for "serious" stuff like running a DAW and rendering programs, I use an non-gaming card in the latest. I have very good experiences with the "Quadro" line-up from NVIDIA, and have used them for years now. The graphical drivers for these cards never interfered with mys system like the "game" drivers do.

Admitted - These cards can be very expensive if bought new. However - You don' t need much graphical power if you run a DAW, and there is a lively (at least in my country) second had market for these cards. If you do not use 4K even a older low-budget Quadro card, like the NVS290 or NVS295 with only 256Mb graphical memory does a great job. At this moment I use a second hand Nvidia Quadro 600 1gb (it costed me about 20 euro), and it works great, without causing any spikes. On my other system I use a GeForce 1070Ti, but have not tested that card with Cubase yet.

I have left hyperthreading active on my motherboard, and have not experienced any problems with that so far, so there is not much I can say about that.

Well nvidia says there are "studio drivers" for all those creative people (like us :)) but not all graphics card are supported, the list of applications is more into video editing but installing those studio drivers maybe is a good idea for cubase . Did some of you guys tried it ?

Someone mentioned that maybe that Steinberg could be in financial trouble. Maybe they should re-think their whole cubase pro package . If if dont get a professional support, i wont pay for an upgrade anymore. If you buy cubase pro you can expect professional support within 1-2 days. A professional support is not like wait 5 months , get a standard reply like "install everything new..." and a 2 hours phone support open from 10-12 o'clock a.m. monday-friday (yeah "great" for the working people out there...) is simply a joke.

New features since Cubase 9-10.5 there is no killer feature to me, nice additions but thats it. Actually you could stay with Cubase 7 and there is your old transport bar :hyper:

i use the studio drivers on my desktop. for a nvidia gtx 1060 6gb. works great.
no problems with nvidia and cubase. and it asks also for the geforce experience? i will ask for hdmi drivers and physx, i don't install them. hdmi drivers for displays (3..) are disabled.

i am not sure if i use the studio drivers on my laptop, with a dedicated gtx 1050 4gb, strangely enough. i am a nerd.. but no problems. but never install geforce experience, hdmi drivers and physx.

the problems are also with amd sometimes, nvidia seems to be more mentioned, bought more?
i don't know sometimes it is the driver, sometimes it is the system. my desktop i have built myself, so i know the thing inside out. but nvida doesn't disturb the performance.

automatic power plans? never saw, it is sometimes usefull, i guess. i have a shortcut for it. my own power plans, or my own; the usual suspects, no usb power management, 100% etc. even in the low power plan, no usb power management, because if you change it, it can affect the usb controllers..

o well.

cubase runs quite well.

I use an old XPS420 as an internet browser (not DAW); however, I am not having any problems with Cubase11, StudioOne5, or Amplitube5 (which I installed as scratch appz).
ymmv
cheers!
