You'll have to get facts from Matt eventually if that's what you are really after. There's none yet aside from what is right in front of your eyes, and what your brain can deduce from past experience, neither of which I could produce for you.

Let us start with you.
Which version did you buy?

BONES wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:45 am Really? Dozens of posts form people unable to install it on release day would have been enough to put a helluva lot of people off, I reckon.
Not sure if you've confused Vital with another synth as I don't think I got any install issues reported.
There were sign in issues and content download issues but the install issues I received were either people not putting the plugin in the right place or people on an unsupported OS.

There were a lot of bugs reported and people may see how many and think Vital is unstable or buggy compared to other synths. However, you have to keep in mind that as a free product (with paid options) I get orders of magnitude more users than a paid product does. And more users means more bug reports.
Matt, first rule of KVR: don't bother engaging with BONES. It usually starts out with him saying something ill-informed (sometimes he's even trying to express a reasonable opinion, albeit poorly), so you politely engage, next thing you know he's arguing with you and you don't know how or why you're in a fight. Then before you know it, he'll call you an f*cking idiot with stupid opinions and start ranting about how awful Moog ladder filters are even though that's not at all relevant to the discussion. Best to just let any posts from BONES just breeze by without engaging.

---
Exactly. Developers have families to feed, houses to buy, children to send to school etc...
I am curious to know how Matt can do that with his model, unless he has a 9-5 or independently rich.
rsp
Free for some, sure -- it was an intended marketing strategy that is working better than any other music-related product to date. Developers in other arenas already took notice, and will be a model for many to come.

Matt will make more money from Vital than the vast majority of the solo developers, as well as a good portion of ones with big budgets or studio backing. No lecture or explanation forthcoming, its simply the truth for a whole lot of obvious (to me) reasons if you've been around awhile.
Marketing strategy that accomplishes what exactly?
I have been around and I totally disagree with you.
How will his model for instance make more money for him than say Steve at Xfer?
Please explain that to me. I am all ears.
rsp
I'm not the type of individual who worries about if others disagree with me. Nor am I the type who demands explanations for opinions I disagree with. Also stick to my word, no lecture of explanation forthcoming.

I state my opinion, rooted in experience, eventually to be revealed to be spot-on truths -- my gift and curse.

There were sign in issues and content download issues but the install issues I received were either people not putting the plugin in the right place or people on an unsupported OS.
Initially there were many reports like this one - "tons of reports, that there are no presets, no wavetables, download from within the preset browser does not work
neither in AU nor in the standalone version
", but the ones I was recalling were like this one "Win10 is deleting a virus when I download it. Anything to concern over? How do I get it to download?" A problem caused by Windows being difficult, presumably because you didn't pay Microsoft for the privilege of using their OS, but a problem nonetheless. The reports are all after page 70 or so in this thread.
Psuper wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:47 amRegardless, I don't think, I know. He probably already did.
You don't know. You can't possibly know, which makes you nothing more than a worthless liar.

Bones, weren't you banned already like 10 times or something for being so hostile? How does one keep coming back after repeatedly spitting into mods faces?

But yes, I do know. Indeed I do. You can call me the Audio Prophet from here on out. Just you though, I demand it.

Thanks! And if/when time comes you'll either chuckle in appreciation, grumble in frustration, or perhaps not remember this conversation at all. Regardless, it makes for great entertainment.

I don't tell straight-up lies here (or anywhere else). You said you know something you cannot possibly know without full access to the sales data of two different developers, which you and I and everyone else knows you don't have. That's called a lie and it makes you a liar. The opinions of a known liar are worthless so all I've done is state the facts. Nobody gets banned for stating facts.

And, for the record, I have been banned twice in going on 20 years.

just had my GF read thru these posts; she points out that there's no reasoning with 'arrogant narcissists', so will let it go. meanwhile, back in the real wold... this 'conversation' is already forgotten... :tu:

EDIT: just got a message, reminding me not to 'feed the trolls' 8)

now back to vital; am scoring a doc on AI, and using vital everywhere; it's perfect for this. am using it a remix as well. new fave synth plugin! and just downloaded the update...

You had your gf get involved? LMAO

All this drama is due to one post a few folks disagree with about business models? Serious bizness. And of course, anyone who disagrees with you is a troll, that stands to reason *sunglasses*

I just got a message from my mummy telling me to get back on topic : dev model worked too well for me as I've stuck with the free version. Bold move by the dev, hope it works out well for him.
