Too much going on there for me. I love my Polyend Tracker as it is simple and limited, this would be like learning a full DAW again...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Is it the jack situation that you are thinking about? I have never denied that using Jack on Windows is not ideal. I wish I could snap my fingers and have an alternative, but unfortunately it's a lot of work since Jack provides a lot of stuff that Radium uses. However, actual users of Radium don't mind using jack. As far as I can see, none of the 1058 issues on the bug tracker is/was about replacing jack. There's not really much trouble with jack anymore, so it's not the most important thing to fix right now. But it is on the list.
Im osx user. and the jack works poorly on a mac, as many as I have not tried. and I am only among those users who have a negative experience with jack. As a regular Renoise user, I would love to explore the new platform. the irony is that once a year I download the latest version of the radium. and once again I face Jack's difficulties and this is where my curiosity ends. I understand that you are primarily considering the radium as the implementation of your own ideas. But if you want to increase your audience, you know how to get our attention.

Happy New Year!
I see. On macOS, there is a big problem with OpenGL, so I haven't really paid attention to the jack situation there. I didn't even know there was problem with jack on that platform (please elaborate what the problem was). Anway, the OpenGL situation should probably be fixed on macos first.

Have you collected your thoughts about it somewhere?
As a 'tracker' myself in the 90s, I'm fairly tempted to get one :help:

have you tried the third-party Reaper one, https://github.com/JoepVanlier/Hackey-Trackey, gonna check it someday I also like the tracker approach, as I see it supports both automation, MIDI CC so seems a usable/handy one

every time in different ways. sometimes it just wouldn't start. sometimes the radium itself did not want to work with it.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Good to know. I'll prioritize higher making an alternative to jack.

I guess it was originally, but now it's a commercial product. Most of the time is spent fixing bugs and implementing features requested by users.

I don't agree about the gui. Yes, it can be a bit busy, but you can hide many things. I've created my own colors for it and it looks nice. Sure, i was overwhelmed the first time i started using Radium. But having both piano roll and tracker+fully zoom was just so tempting (zoom baby.. ZOOM 😊), i put a few hours into it. And now it feels like second nature. Don't give up on this great tracker/piano roll/daw

Post

I also am watching the project regularly, because it has so much potential (and possibilites for sure, too). But as my predecessors wrote, I agree with those points which make it unusable for me under macos:

- It uses jackaudio. Jack simply is shit on macos. Please remove it and add support for the OS' audio interface, here coreaudio, directly, and coremidi, too.

- The gui is very powerful and full with information, but also pretty cluttered already. It would be already better maybe if the colors were reduced, or more used as highlight for type. Also sometimes you have white text on dark ground and sometimes you have dark text on bright ground. It should not be mixed at all, except for highlighting bars or so. It's very tiring for the eye to switch between those two.

Thanks for consideration!

This is a cool looking daw. I'm not looking to mess around with new daws, but it seems awesome.

Yes Worldshaker! Coming from Fasttracker2 I loved Renoise (and it's still awesome). But having experience with a couple of Daws out there (well, Cubase, Fl Studio, Reaper, and Studio One) What i realized was that some things were good at the tracker interface (drums, percussion), and some things belonged to the piano roll. (Chords etc). Radium combines these things, and gives us fully zoom (i can not stress how much i love this). The developer is very responsive, i've been a paying member for a couple of years. And he listens to good suggestions. He implemented a couple of piano rolls ideas i had so far. And this daw is growing with great speed. I say... if you loved Buzz, Ft2, and (insert tracker) try Radium. It might look confusing at first. But remember that you can always hide most elements. So if tracking is your style? Hide the rest. I'm glad that this thread is getting some traction, cause i know you guys out there is good with suggestions. So let's help the developer create the ultimate bridge between a tracker/Piano roll/Daw 😊
