One Synth Challenge #142: Vital by Matt Tytel (Jasinski Wins!)

I've been lurking for the past few months and decided to give this month's challenge a shot.
https://soundcloud.com/user-271119263/i ... -142-vital
Made in Reaper with 22 instances of Vital, mostly patches I made from scratch and a couple that were modified presets. Mostly stock plug-ins except for a couple tracks had a bit of tape saturation effect, and some delays (Echo Cycles by Geraint Luff, and one instance of Valhalla Delay, the only commercial plugin I used in this). The guitarish sound has the longest FX chain: JS Tremolo, JS Spring Box Delay-Reverb, JS Convolution Amp/Cab Modeler, JS Echo Cycles, EQ, compression, and CHOW Tape Model.

I'm back.
I spent some quality time with Vital and started about 11 different projects for this month. Then I spent some quality time with my family and only had time to finish one tonight. It's short and sweet and simple (relatively speaking).
I am indebted to Jasinski and TheNeverScene for their excellent guitar patches which became the starting point of this piece. I also used one of the stock keys presets because it fit and I didn't feel like changing it.
The percussion here is arguably the crown jewel of my custom presets - when I get some time later I'll bundle up my custom patches to share here.
https://soundcloud.com/anotherbenjamin/send-off
Produced in Reaper 6 using 11 instances of Vital.
I kept it light on external effects and automation, using one instance each of
TDR Nova for my kick/bass sidechain EQ
Dragonfly Room for send reverb
Limiter No6 for loudness mastering
SPAN for frequency analysis
MLoudnessAnalyzer for loudness analysis
Only 3 parameters are automated across the track:
Hihat Open/close macro
guitar 2 Delay mix
reverb track level
All other variation and detail was done with synth modulators and MIDI velocity. I'm happy to share the patches and project file if anyone would find them educational or useful.
(oh, and for anyone wondering: yes, the guitar tuning was intentional. This track is in 31edo meantone[12], give or take some comma shifts and a supermajor 7th)

My Submission
Solace
58 instances of Vital by Matt Tytel (free version)
All sounds made from init.
Logic Pro X - typical compressors, overdrive and channel EQ used for mixing, but that's it.
Commercial FX - everyone raves about commercial FX so I tried what I own. Used Valhalla Room as a send but honestly it is so slight, barely noticeable. I also used Izotope Ozone 8 to master, with a bit of multiband compression and about 2 to 3 dB of limiting on the maximizer, so not doing a whole lot, honestly.
Everything else - used the FX on-board the synth, pretty much exclusively, aside from mixing tools, discussed above. There are some really sick tricks to be had with the chorus FX to make metallic sounds... I probably didn't even scratch the surface.
Yo, Matt, if you read this - I loved the sonic capability of Vital, this thing is truly a gift. I found the CPU usage to be quite high, however. I had to to freeze all my drum tracks to finish the tune, but I did have three different drum kits going. It may be the AU version or something, but my normal layering of instances proved challenging, which tbh just made it more fun to sketch the track out. In any case, if the CPU usage can be improved... oh boy.
Looks like a lot of pages on this forum... I've been absent for awhile so I'm guessing some good discussion has happened related to this synth... what a beast.
This track was largely inspired by my son Nolan, who was born this year. I know its been a challenging year but he gave me much light and solace through it all.
Much love to you lot.

In just under the wire, I think!
I rewrote/redesigned this in the last two days after feeling like what I'd written wasn't really the track I wanted to write this month. This is, due to the hurry, perhaps not that track, either, but it's a lot closer, and it enabled me to write some sounds I really, really enjoyed.
What else is there to say? Vital is excellent. Surface scratched.
Here's my entry for KVR Audio's One Synth Challenge 142 featuring the relatively mind-blowing free wavetable synthesizer Vital (available free at vital.audio).
Reaper 6.19
Vital x 23
ReaEQ x 18
ReaComp x 9
Transpire x 3
SPAN x 1

My submission:

Made in LMMS with 11 Vital instances and no other plugins.
I got terrible troubles in time management and only had one night to produce it, which is a very short piece of music. However, I still want to participate the contest because I really like this synth. I appreciate it a lot that such a powerful synth is released for free.

Been a while, but this is the elongated waited sequel to Clamflesheater 2. I titled it Clamflesheater 3. It the story of a one that has eaten clamfleash not only twice, but thrice. It's 201 instances of Vital, with various plugs, such as Levelling Tool, Unlevelling Tool and Relevelling tool. I ran it through PerfectMixtrum1.3 analyzer to assure perfect spectrumming. Then a touch of UnPerfectMixtrum0.0 for added balance. For the record, many of the guitar patches you might hear (if not all), in this OSC are either mine or Jasinski's (but thank you to Leonardo DeBowmanio for the magnificently and long overdue deserved credit.) Thanks to Jasinski for the crash cymbal that has been buried in the mix (mainly due to the fact that I can't mix, but more mainly due to the fact that synth crash cymbals suck the big one, no matter how unrealisticly realistic they sound), and to mmGhost for the extra dose of snare conk. It was like I fished out a giant snail from the Carribean and smashed it to bits over it's beautiful shell with a pair of Louisville Sluggers. I'd also like to thank Wendy's for making a very good cheeseburger and the IRS for consistently ripping everyone the f**k off. Happy New Year! ;D On a serious note, Vital is fantastic......especially for DIY'ers that are repulsed by preset hoarding non-DIY'ers. https://soundcloud.com/the-never-scene/clamflesheater-3

I left everything to the very last day and I did nothing
That's what I got (almost) for today only, taking advantage of additional 9 hours in timezone difference, it is at least something
Majority of these sounds are community presets of course, as there was "no time to explain" for me.
Daw: Bitwig
VSTi:
