Not pleased with a synth lead line in a tune, and I'm thinking it needs a more human character without losing it's non-specificity (it's not 'singing'). I can probably create something by reversing and mangling some vocal samples, though I don't have my own catalogue of that stuff and will need to source it.
I did try automating the ooh/ahh samples in PhasePlant but they're too generic.
Any suggestions?

Bela D Paravox, if you want to spend a bit of money, would be a perfect source of that stuff. If not, there's a Full Bucket formant synth that's free and I think it can get breathy... can't remember the name but their formant synth. Alter/Ego has a breathiness parameter which adds noise into the voice, and the "space" voice from Marie Ork, which is female death metal voice data doing its best to play pitched notes, might actually have a use here.
