With this field of competitors even 20th place would be an amazing feat. Even 20th place counted from the back... Oh man, why did I even enter? :dog:

@PleaseAdvise ... yup, full ranking and the scores after voting are published in the data sheet of the results spreadsheet. So, you can see who liked your track and who didn't, should you be curious. Ideally you should try to leave comments on the Soundcloud page for each track so people can take advice (and criticism) and hopefully improve their tracks as they do more and more challenges. Comments can be technical (e.g. over compressed, nasty resonances etc..), composition thoughts, sound design and use of the sounds, and also, simply what you thought (e.g. I like it, but not my usual go to type of track etc ...)

Gonna take the 16 days to get through this, and will also need time to start on the next challenge whilst waiting for my Covid jab (should be in the next few weeks for me in the UK!).

Just listen some random tunes, if all the songs are in the same league of quality, I hope to place my crappy tune at least in the last 10 :D
12 years old PC running :Reaper;Reason;Dune;Zampler;Kontakr;Reaktor;and many others countless vst :D

Oh man, it shows the rankings? Haha, brutal 🥲

Post

... even more brutal ... who gave who what rank! Stiff competition this month.

Yeah, I miscalculated ... looks like around 30 is midway ... :D

Newcomers, first welcome, and remember you must score all the tracks 1-5 or you will be disqualified, your own track goes into the 1 bin! Comments always welcome, but not required or a must.

Enjoy the listening and voting :tu:

Listening the tracks.. There goes the top5

Indeed, I saw my track drop down the ranks as the new tracks kept piling in ... <sigh>

Am I an idiot or is "The Boo - Where Hope is Vital" not on the spotify playlist. I've looked through the playlist 3 times and I'm not seeing it, but there are so many songs so maybe I keep overlooking it.

Post

No, @briefcasemanx, you're not mistaken. There are 61 tracks to vote for, but only 60 tracks in the soundcloud playlist

Post

Maybe it wasn't downloadable ... RS & BJ will be on to it if so.

Oh yes, while we are here ... can people please post the DAW used and a list of plugins and Vital count? The rules say you should.

Is kinda nice to know who uses Logic, Bitwig, Live, Buzz, etc., and also which FX. I have started to use many a new FX because others have used it (in my case, OTT, SuperMassive and Limiter No.6 and others)

If it hadn't been downloadable, it wouldn't have appeared on the voting page, I guess.

Man didn't think voting would be this fun. Wildly different directions from everyone. Using one synthesizer for everything limitation makes this competition waay more interesting, I keep thinking "How the f**k did he make that sound?" on so many tracks.

Post

@briefcasemanx - I hadn't made the track public hence it wasn't included that's fixed now & sorted. Thanks for your concern.

Edit - Sorted my login issue.

Thanks!
This is really interesting, I don't think I can say much on other tracks with my level of knowledge and I'm having a hard time analyzing in genres I'm not used to but I'll try if anything comes to mind!
Wish I've had more time for this, and also just for the fun of crafting my own sounds instead of using free ones, but working under pressure was kinda fun and also I think really leaves my flaws wide opened, so I see what my go-to are and how I think by default. This pinpoints more than leaving tracks to marinate for too long and hoping you'll fix everything "later".

Back to listening!

I'm also aproaching this totally unscientificly, so I have to base most of my votes on personal preferences.
