I first installed it at I think 1.13 or so, not sure. But I just went and deleted the preset folders and reinstalled 1.20 RC and no different. Lo strings lfo is 11.70 hz. The same patch in the Arturia one is lfo at 3.72 hz!planetearth wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:35 amOut of curiosity, which version of the synth do you have, and when did you initially install it? The issue seems to be tied to when you installed the patches or which version of the synth you had then (if you can remember).Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:31 am I've also noticed the lfo's being way too fast on the strings patches. They sounded terrible until I lowered them significantly. Never noticed this with the Cloud or Arturia strings patches.
Steve
I'm using the VST3 on Windows.

Interesting.
Anyway I sent my Factory Bank to Patrick.
That might be the quickest solution once he figures out what is causing this.

The plugin creates the factory presets when you use it for the first time or if it doesn't see a Preset Folder.
My preset folder maybe older than yours.
Tell me an LFO for another few presets please.
Or let me do mine and you tell me what is in yours.
Hungry life a wolf is 1.52 Hz. (dave polich)
Bit Shift EV Bass (empty vessel) is 0.13 Hz
Mono Porta Arp (Tal bank Arp) 2.13 Hz

maybe it's not the presets themselves, but some platform issue? I'm on Mac, and Echoes in the Attic who has the wrong LFO is on windows.. But I'm sure that Patrick will deal with this very fastzvenx wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:51 am Interesting.

Three if you count Roland’s, which you should, because it’s at least as good (if not better) and was around before either of them. (Arturia’s wasn’t good till v4.)PatchAdamz wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 1:01 pm The fact that we have 2 totally usable Jupiter 8 emulations is just a nice change of pace.
Been waiting for this for a long time.

So I moved my presets to my desktop on both mac and windows.
Cubase on mac, Nuendo on PC, both vst3.
On PC.....all the seven patches mentioned previously were fine (that is the same Hz I had earlier which was half of value of planetearths.
On Mac it became interesting... The three patches I mentioned from the non Factory J8 bank were all fine. But the others, two of them in particular Lo String and whistle would show different LFO values depending on how I got the patch.
If I went to the patch directly from the browser,, more times those two would show the 2x LFO rate, but if I then moved to the next patch or previous patch using the arrows, and then go back to them, they showed the right LFO value..
And going back to my previous presets folders, the pc always behaved fine but the mac would sometimes exhibit the issue depending on how I got to the preset.
Really odd.

When I open Lo Strings (Mac, Logic, J-8 1.2.0 RC):
* It sounds like 5.85 Hz
* The mouseover screen value reads 5.85 Hz
* But the LFO rate slider is at 11.7 Hz. When I touch & slightly move the slider, the audible value also jumps to 11.7 Hz.
(It also confused me at first that the 0-10 scale in the slider has nothing to do with the actual value, so it's best to ignore those numbers
...and this is by design, not a bug.)

Hi, I am not sure how you are differentiating the mouseover screen value from the lfo rate slider.
Where are you getting the lfo rate slider value from?
Also note the slider is not a linear scale slider.
rsp
edit: never mind I see what you mean, once you touch it you see the other value.

Yep, I know this is by design and not a bug, just mentioned it so that someone else doesn't get confused by it.
Yeah, exactly. The slider position stays the same, but the actual value (on the "LCD screen" and in speakers) doubles.zvenx wrote: Sun Jan 03, 2021 1:43 pm edit: never mind I see what you mean, once you touch it you see the other value.
EDIT: Just realized that this is probably related to changing the LFO max value from 20 to 40 Hz (that happened at some point, right?).

Yes I think that is what happened.
Before it was released, two or so revisions before it was.
His Jupiter 8 only goes to 20Hz, and I had read here from wcruz that the hardware went up to 40Hz, so I read the manual and sure enough it said 40Hz, brought it to Patrick's attention and he changed it. I think this is also a big reason why from 20-40 Hz only takes place from about 9 to 10 on the slider, but indeed it may have caused this issue, but I don't remember noticing it before, although for sure I never spent much time playing with the converted Factory Bank.

BTW Arturia behaves very similar. It goes from 0-30hz, and 0-20 is like 95% of the slider, and 20-30 is the upper half of the 9-10 on the slider.

NOOO.....
not your fault at all. Your input (without even knowing you were making an input) made it a better product.... Patrick I am sure will work out this kink soon.

Yeah so looks like he changed the range but didn't adapt patches created before the change to the new parameter scaling...
