No, it never was, though it could be more fun to do all from scratch. Some just tweak the sounds...
OK, good to know!

If I ever enter OSC again (which is unlikely, but you never know) I will start with other peoples presets then. ;) Because I will finish a track a million times faster, and get much more time to improve the arrangement, mixing and mastering this way. I spent almost a whole day on each sound in the track, sometimes two sounds in a day. Cymbals took me 2 days alone to craft. It is much much faster to simply de-construct good 3rd party presets, and remix them to your own taste. I have built up to 70 original sounding presets like that in just one full day previously. (With good old Surge)

However I would not truly know how to make decent cymbals from scratch if I hadn't nerded out with this hehe. Prefer using samples for cymbals to be honest, but it was interesting to learn how to do it on a synth. I had the time to waste also with 10 days corona quarantine. Best time killer ever. ;)

Crafting sounds isn‘t killing time at all. Often you can create a sound faster than finding it in a pile of given presets. And its more rewarding as well. But if you come across something readymade and inspiring don‘t hesitate to let it shine.

True. Sometimes it can take days to find good presets that you also like to use and modify. Ever been through all the Virus presets? My god, its just endless. In general though, if the presets are good, and if competing in making songs in a short amount of time, all im saying is that its faster with already made presets, if you know your way around synths and daws and composition. I see no shame in it, like using a guitar the way it was bought. But apply your own pedal fx and personal play style etc. No point inventing the wheel again. I just miss understood and though this was a sound design synth competition.

Frog in Pants thank you very much for posting your precious presets. You where the next on my list to stalk with private messages. :D

Some have written about sharing stuff, allready stalked some of them. :D
And i would be very gratefull to anyone for anything you like to share!

Tried to enter this month, but i have to learn lot first. Especially with mixing and vst stuff.
The list beyond the tracks and when you explain stuff what you do with it helps a lot!

Made this birds by accident, maybe it´s usefull for someone.

Also doing a lot of Wavetable editing lately. You can edit single sample "points", this is very interesting for making clicks, other background noise and fine tuning.

You can allready hear a single sample.

Finally got done voting. That was a lot of tracks!

Enjoyed listening to all the tracks - I tried to leave a comment on each one, but as detailed by others Sound Cloud wasn't always co-operative in this regard and I think some of my comments didn't appear; so apologies in this regard. If you didn't get a comment on your track and you want one let me know - I'll happily go back and fix.

Really strong entries overall and I think the diversity was welcoming to the ear. Now I just have to hone the marking a little.

Also a thanks to to those who listened to my track and left constructive criticism - it's been very helpful. I plan to remix it at some point to sort out the panning and drum issues etc.

Cheers all.

Got a bit busy, I originally wanted to comment on most of the tracks but 61 tracks is kinda crazy. Jasinski covered everyone I think, what a god. Will do it slowly whenever I have the time.

phew! voted. Tried to comment on all trax, maybe missed 1 or 2. Learned some things. Good luck to all.

I want to post my vote on https://www.onesynthchallenge.org/, but I am not able to register/login there. Am I missing something? Please advise. Thanks.

@gigue07 not sure if you are running into the same issue as I did, but if your browser autofills the username and password fields, then then clicking login will do nothing. Wasted a lot of time working it out. You actually have to click in the username and password fields and press at least one key in there and you should see checkmarks appear in both boxes.

I haven't even started voting as I've been wrapped up in my project for 143...
I'll try to leave some feedback and get my votes out at a reasonable time but I'm having too much fun with my weird little hardware.

That said, I took some time to collect my patches and project files. You can find them here. it was too big to upload through KVR. This contains all of the project data, the patches I used in the project, and several other patches I made that didn't fit the mood of this track. Enjoy!

Somehow dubstep bass growls just didn't seem to fit the mood :hihi:
mostly here for the One Synth Challenge
you can hear some of my newest music at: https://wrenharmonic.bandcamp.com/ or https://www.youtube.com/@wrenharmonic

Awesome, thanks!

No? It sounds like you didn't even try to ram them together hard enough. Since you provided your project file, maybe someone else can succeed where you have failed. ;)

Hi Mark, Thanks for the tips. I have changed browser to Microsoft Edge from Google Chrome with the following results:
-I was able to enter my email address and password
-I was able to get the green checkmark on both columns
-But I failed to get access when pressing the start button (Username or Password incorrect or user doesn't exist). :help:
Oh well, I guess I will have to ask the other participants to help post my vote on my behalf if I cannot post it by myself. :?:
Any suggestions please
