Great discussion! I don't own adequate hardware, but I found this beauty of an emulator and think that'll be my option

Can I use the Korg M1 plugin?

Korg M1 is a rompler.

"What is Korg M1?
The M1 is a 1980's rompler with expansion capabilities. It was extremely popular and was the first commercially successful ROM-based synthesizer. "

"What is M1 synthesizer?
The M1, released in 1988, is an epoch-making synthesizer that defined the music scene of the late 80’s and the 90s. Its synthesis system with digital multi-effects, based on high-quality PCM"

@mylofi The VL-1 is very like my PT-10. Here's the VL-1 in action at about 1:13 onwards. The clinky perc beat is the VL-1, same on the PT-10

Oh yeah dB, I love that band, classic song! So apparently I won't need to design the drums this time around

I had one of those when I was a kid :). Neato.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

For a moment i thought it'd be an emulation of a Yamaha VL1, but alas :hihi:
Would really love to see a plugin version of that synth or something that uses the same modelling tech...

Probably not because it's a rompler... but similarly to that and the D-50, I would also very much like to use the Korg Triton! The part-sample-playback-part-synthesis to me is still synthesis, in hardware form! But alas, rules are rules.

Okay, I’m confused.

There seems to be general confusion, unless I’ve missed some kind of clarification, as to what is allowed and what isn’t.

For example, Diva isn’t an emulation of any one synth. But it’s there in the first post. So, what are the criteria?

After 8 pages that is still a bloody good question. For mine, choose synth, make a track, don't be a devious bastard and have fun

Seems fair. With any luck (time permitting), I’ll give it a go. :phones:

Cool. Just stay away from samples. Samples are bad.

I have a hardware VL-1, I could use that, but it's in use already as my main calculator.

You don't have to be confused. You will find the answer to your question in this video:

In the rules it states that:
You may use any hardware effects unit as long as it follows the usual effect rules.
So I assume I can use something like a reverb pedal on my hardware synth?
