same here.. i would love to get my grubby mits on the code for that little gem.

there seems to be an ugly trend with companies aol buys out.. they all close up or go down the shitter. :(

what's so bad about no major new features anyway? it has all that a player needs...
many people complain that winamp got bloated and stick to 2.9...
so maybe it's the best to stop and move to a new thing ;)

I feel exactly the same way. Winamp is the only audio player that I can stand to use. It's so freakin' fast, light and usable, the way software should be but rarely is. It was horrible when AOL got involved.

This comment by daniel1113 on Anandtech sums it all up perfectly:

AOL should join Real Networks in software hell.

The only extra feature I want from an mp3 player is VST hosting. Winamp supports it through a wrapper, but it's not really an ideal solution. I'd love to use Classic Comp and Classic Limiter on my jazz albums (especially the live ones). I've used VB-FFX4 for Winamp in the past, and that works pretty well, but it only hosts DXi's, and it's been crashing lately.

And hopefully soon!

I wonder how much Bill G slipped TimeWarner under the table to make this so.

hm, am I the only one who thinks that MediaPlayer 10 is very light and easy to use?

Real Networks are evil but as I use "Real Alternative" it's no problem :hihi:

Agreed! (I learned that trick by asking here on kvr a while ago..)

Maybe someone should write a VST host that supports mp3 audio tracks? :D

yes you are

media player 10 is so awkward and to use it properly you have to have it in fullscreen mode, it really isn't usuable in any other mode. plus it sucks up more ram then winamp and dosen't play as many formats.
