Redux doesn't output MIDI, just internal sample mangling.antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 7:55 am Slightly off-topic, but can Redux output MIDI to host DAW (from phrases)?

Too bad
I've spent few hours yesterday refreshing my tracker chops and boy do I missed it!! Writing melodies that way is so much faster and more intuitive for me, as a music-theory pleb. I can basically type it in as fast as I can come up with it in my head and being able to quickly move or adjust the notes makes me more adventurous, as well.
I'm gonna get Redux anyway (€40 just for its super powerful sampler is peanuts) but it would be awesome if it could output MIDI or drag a clip out, like many MIDI tools can.
I'll write a FR for that for sure!

Redux is definitely worth having, comes with some great contest and it is different and fun enough to justify having no matter what other samplers you have (it even lets you record sounds in directly, unusual for a sampler these days!), its actually a pretty large chunk of Renoise as a plugin!antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:36 amToo bad![]()

instrument macro device can be copy-pasted into Redux from Renoise so not just internal, https://forum.renoise.com/t/no-way-to-m ... ters/46921
envelopes in it can be triggered from outside, so also can be used as a note triggered fx plugin

why don't you simply use https://revisit.info/ then ( tracking software for VST hosts ) ?antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:36 amToo bad![]()

If you use Reaper, there is hackey trackey:ScrLk wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:11 am Redux seems more like a sweet spot to me because I wouldn't really want to control VSTs through a tracker...

Not to forget, there is also Studio Regen's Frames (VCV Rack):

Notice that you can use Redux as a powerful MultiFX too, skipping the sampling and pattern sections.antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:36 am Too bad![]()

There is an audio input device "Native->Routing->#Line Input". From there you can create any FX topology that you want with its inbuilt effects as long as the topology doesn't have feedback. The comb filter is pure fun.
It has parameter macros too, so you can have a VST parameter that does many things at once. You can control it via MIDI. It has some rough edges:

Playing a transposed drum pattern with the keyboard is pure fun too.
I think I paid around 70€ for it and I would do it again with no hesitation. The first commercial plugin I bought and the one I'd keep if I were forced to keep just one.

No, just remove them temporary from directories, run Renoise and disable VST3, then copy back.
Taktik already said he has a workaround.

But redux is not a MIDI tool, it's a Sampler with a tracker sequencer attached.antic604 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:36 am

I'm not surprised that it doesn't work that way, frankly. Most people who use a Tracker in the first place are going to be using the tracker-specific features along with it -- effects commands -- and there is no way to export those. Redux can't load VST plugin instruments, it's a Sampler and the Phrases will be filled with commands to playback samples. The MIDI export you want would essentially therefore only export 50% (or less) of what the Phrase actually contains. You'd get MIDI note and velocity, but lose delay, pan, and (most importantly) all sample effects commands. What's the point? You really want the note data for the samples in your Phrase exported, at the cost of losing everything that makes a Tracker a Tracker in the first place?
