Cubase delay latency compensation

Hello everyone,
First of all I am not a Cubase user but I became curious when I saw that in one of my friend's home studio. He also did know the answer and as the result I am asking it here.
When you press F4 you see the list of plug ins and some of the plug-ins have some extra delays. They said that they take care of this delay and everything will be sync at the end. I did the following test and it did not really compensate the delay. At least I did not get the picture yet.
Assume there is one audio channel as the source of the signal. Then we have two group channels. In one of them I load one plug in that has some delay ( example 1000 samples)
The in the Audio I route the signal to the group channel that does not have any delayed plug in type ( 0 latency) and I also send the audio signal to the group channel that has some delay ( 1000 samples). Clearly I hear the outputs are not sync. I saw that there is a delay compensation button in the main window but if you press that it basically disable that plug ins that make the delay.
So what exactly means to say that they compensate the delay?
Thanks

The output of the audio could be any channel but also you can use send sections to send to another channel(s)

Thanks but I am not sure if it is related to direct monitoring. It should be much simpler than that. Btw thanksDMG68 wrote: Fri Jan 08, 2021 10:12 pm Direct routing should fix it.
Check this video from 10:30, he's doing compression but should work for any effect.

I have been a cubendo user for 18+ years, so yes I know you can. I was wondering how you did it.
Any chance I can see this project or try to reproduce it step by step.
This has never happened to me and I rarely use Direct routing..

Maybe the plugin isn't reporting latency properly?
It's not direct monitoring BTW, it's direct routing.
As zvenx says though, you should be able to do it without direct routing.

When you say a source do you mean a live source?
Delay and latency is compensated for recorded tracks only, as Cubase can read the file "early" and make the necessary adjustments in timing and playback. However it can't do that trick with a live input as the audio does not yet exist. Its clever but not that clever....

I've discovered several plugins over time that behave this way in Cubase. Each time i've contacted the plugin company and explained that the plugin is somehow not reporting the correct latency for Cubase to then compensate for... each time the company in question has flatly refused that it's their problem... "nobody else has reported this problem" etc. So I simply cannot use the plugin.
sonible proximityEQ, TBAudio DSEQ and United Plugins FireCharger are 3 from memory.
I should add, this is out of tens of thousands of plugins i'ved used over 20 years or so.

I do not have access to the project. I just visited a friend and I saw this issue in his place.zvenx wrote: Fri Jan 08, 2021 10:34 pmI have been a cubendo user for 18+ years, so yes I know you can. I was wondering how you did it.

ok
yeah that has never happened to me, and if it really happens and it isn't the plugin that is just reporting latency incorrectly. Steinberg would want to hear about this.
Feel free to use me as the conduit if you can get access to it from your friend.

Never had this problem across 28 years of using Cubase.

Also, who are "they"? Your friend? And what plugin list?
Just curious, not censorious.

F4 is the default to bring up the Audio Connections dialog. I wonder what else your friend has done to customise his setup.5980 wrote: Fri Jan 08, 2021 9:11 pm ...
