Is that a bug ?

When I write MIDI notes in a region... If I'm on picture A and I Command-R (duplicate) the last note the MIDI region automatically gets one bar longer as you can see on picture B.

Not a bug - it’s worked that way since version 10.2 at least. I think it was designed as a feature.

Maybe. But there are so many MIDI editing bugs in Logic Pro X that I wouldn't be surprised if this is also a bug. Like, try splitting a MIDI region at the playhead and telling it to split the notes at the cut. It leaves note fragments on the left region underneath the notes that should be there. You get used to working around these bugs in Logic and just accept them. (The split bug has been around for ages and I have my doubts that it will ever be fixed.)

Here is the functionality (not a bug). There are two rules you have to pay attention two

1) When you create a new MIDI Note Event with any command, then that new MIDI Note Event will have the same length as the MIDI Note you created or edited last.

2) When you use the "Repeat Once" command, then that Note will be placed on the next downbeat, if the selected note is longer than one bar, then the new note will be created on the following bar (even if there is an existing note already).

Yes. But how does that explain what I am talking about in the OP ?

If I create a one bar region (4/4) and then write 4 notes with a length of one beat each... why would "Logic Pro" assume I suddenly want a 2 bars region ?

If the note touches the grid duplicating it using Option+R adds an empty bar to the region and it is really annoying.
So only way to prevent it is shortening the note a tiny bit.
By the way it does not happen if you use option+mouse drag or copy/paste to duplicate the note
So there is inconsistency there for this to be a feature.

Also on the 10.6.1 release notes it says this is fixed but not really. Still happens.

From release notes;
Fixes an issue where copying a note within an existing region in the Piano Roll sometimes causes the region to extend unexpectedly.

It doesn't happen neither if you just write the notes with a pencil.

Interesting... I hope they are aware of the half done job...

It looks like someone put a "if > or =" instead of a "if >" somewhere.

Aware, yes. But bugs like these (i.e., they are annoying, but you can work around them) are low priority, and they may not ever fix them. I was frankly surprised that they finally got around to fixing the copy-paste tempo bug. So maybe in 10.10 they will finally get around to fixing this one.
