Was just about to say that. Got it cheap somewhere. Looks great, haven't really delved into it yet.
I'm well covered with fx but I don't own a transient shaper

Just combining these, as those are actually the successors as vst/au.Mister Natural wrote: Sun Jan 10, 2021 7:23 pm if you're on Ableton :

Sound design you say?
AnarchyEffects Length Separator (https://www.kvraudio.com/product/length ... d-software) - It's free and easy to use. Automate the parameters.
Sonible EntropyEQ and the Entropy module of frei:raum - not amplitude-based transient but harmonic/inharmonic separation and multiband. frei:raum has gone on deep discount more than once, €49 at VSTBuzz and APD. Well worth picking up for the other modules too.
Eventide Physion - It's been on sale for $49 so wait for that. You get slightly different sets of FX for the separated parts and the splitter can be tuned for the specific type of program material which makes it more accurate, and abusable for sound design.
Unfiltered Audio Zip - it's marketed as a compressor, which it is. But it's got several detection modes and the Noisiness and Tonalness modes are effectively transient shapers. You could have gotten all the UA plugins at nominal cost during the holidays. There will surely be another PA sale.
A note on Kilohearts Transient Shaper - It's got this Pump parameter that's really useful for perceptually strengthening the transient without increasing its amplitude by lowering the amplitude after it. It's like the Pultec trick but for amplitude over time. For creative purposes put it inside Snap Heap (free). You can build a custom Physion-like chain with it.

Tried Kilohearts Transient Shaper, Couture, Crack, MTransient, Transpire, TS-1, Transient Monster, Transient Shaper 2 (Schaak Audio), Transector aaaand Transgressor 2. Took some time to test them
Tried different percussive/plucked material.
In the end I decided Kilohearts Transient Shaper (KTS). Easy to register, affordable (got it here on kvr 2nd hand for €20), resizable gui. But those are just well appreciated goodies because I think it's also the best sounding one and easy to use too. Right after KTS comes for me MTransient but I found KTS to be a bit more transparent and much faster to set up.
Never used any Kilohearts stuff but while cruising their site I stumbled across SliceEq. And since I also do not own this kind of eq I did a demo and like it very much too. Bought it then via Knobcloud for €10. So thanks for the one mentioning Kilohearts.

Yes. I own Zip and G8 (best function: split the signal into closed/open gate). Use both a lot for shaping the "envelope" of a sound. Really like them.

Yes got it for free (as well as some other generic plugins) while registering on the side. But how to do what you are mentioning? As far as I see Snap Heap is "only" a bus-system for use in serial/parallel. But probably I oversee something.yellowmix wrote: Mon Jan 11, 2021 12:19 am A note on Kilohearts Transient Shaper - It's got this Pump parameter that's really useful for perceptually strengthening the transient without increasing its amplitude by lowering the amplitude after it. I have 17000 or so transient shapers...
Cheap and super useful are Kilohearts Transient Shaper and Boz Trangressor if you need more flexibility. I haven´t used any of the other 16998 transient shapers within the last year. Spiff still gets used but mostly in mastering.

You'll need the relevant/desired Snap-Ins. Toolbox Free gets you an EQ, Chorus, Delay, Gain, Limiter, and a Stereo Width/Panner. So you'd be missing (from Physion) a Compressor, Reverb, Gate, Pitch Shifter, Tremolo. However you can implement tremolo via Gain + an LFO.Autobot wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:41 am Yes got it for free (as well as some other generic plugins) while registering on the side. You'll need two instances of Transient, one supplying attack only, the other sustain only. Parameters are not in a 1:1 relationship, you'll need to adjust them by ear, use the speed control in addition to A/S.
