No Compromises

Not the title of this track, but rather the philosophy behind the production.
Usually, I mix a track such that it may appeal to other listeners. This time around, I mixed this track, as the subject says, with no compromises.
So it's too long, way too compressed, and I mean squashed flat, and probably too hot, and I mean, burnt to a crisp.
+
Channel strips on every track (Waves TG12345) and compressors (Waves RS124) and EQ (REDD 37/51/17) on all the groups, Waves TG Mastering, SIR Standard clipper and 3, no 4, limiters on the stereo out.
GrooveAgent on the drums, AmpleSound Les Paul on the lead guitars, Shreddage 2 on the rhythm and riff guitars, AmpleSound Jaco bass, The Ladies, and everything else is HALion.
Various amp sims, Valhalla VintageVerb, Satin for echo duties.
I think that's it.

As an aside, Just before Christmas I had a hearing loss, as in couldn't hear anything below around 300 hz or above around 2000 hz. Everything, including my own voice sounded as though it was coming over the phone. So this mix probably the worse for that. Good news is it's gradually coming back to normal.

Well I was about to curl up in bed and saw that you'd posted, so had a quick listen...
Hmmm...might NOT be settling down quite yet...now utterly pumped full of adrenalin!
Loved the track - great overall vibe...fabulous riffs and melodies...wonderful changes in texture and tempo and well judged solo sections.
Listened to both...I definitely prefer the original...more life and energy in it for me and some how the 'edit' seemed to flow better but WGAF either way...GREAT MUSIC!
One more listen...and I hope the hearing continues to recover!!!

Hey there, didn't notice until today that you'd commented. To be honest, I wasn't expecting any one to listen after that warning I gave, about the amount of compression I used, deliberately, I might add!
Glad you liked it. I shall do a "compromised" final version, hopefully sometime soon. (Only 3 limiters, maybe!)
