Igro wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:35 pm Even though Vital has tons of sound shaping capabilities, I'm wondering how to achieve a classic phase distortion. Does anyone know? Thank you.
Depends on what you mean by "classic". Bend an Squeeze are both phase distortion effects.

Phase Mod and Phase Distortion are functionally the same thing at low enough amplitudes and matching frequency. But yes, the unison would suffer a bit.

And btw, with that method the unison function becomes unusable. It will sound "pulsating"
Yes... my mistake, I misread your post as phase modulation... and yeah, unison will mostly not sound so good.

Hi,
I'm trying out the free version. Can somebody point out the MPE setup(Linnstrument user)? It's not clear how to adjust settings. In the default setting there is no pitch per note.

Thanks

On the advanced tab there is an option to enable MPE

Seems I've missed that. Will check it, thanks.

Actually it would be cool if the phase modulation was possible via one of the shaper knob in the oscillator section. In this case it wouldn't affecte the quality of unison (I guess so, because it is how it's implemented in Pigments).

Does having the GUI open make a significant difference in CPU demand ?
Old post i know, but when i open Vital on my Mini with low buffers it quickly starts stuttering - but its the GPU running 4K screen that’s the problem.
I guess M1 will solve that, mini’s GPu truly is garbage.

Wow this new synth sounds very promising and exciting! I definitely plan to at least get the free version. Is there anywhere where I can hear the extra presets from the “Pro” version? Would make me decide if I want to invest in that or go with the free one for now.

Post

I must say i am very impressed about this synth.
Great sound, great GUI, lots of features and even free if you like.
I think i will go for the pro version next paycheck since i think this has to be supported and i would like to see how this evolves further.
This thing is actually the most interesting new synth for me now.

Has anyone experienced hanging notes as a result of poor internet connectivity? I'm not sure if that would affect the MIDI data stream but it seams to happen when my internet is crap.

Post

Internet connectivity should have nothing to do with the midi data stream.

What OS are you on and what DAW(s) do you use ?

I have not had a problem with stuck notes.

I wouldn't think so. Windows 10 / Live 10. I recently got a new MIDI controller so it's probably some MIDI hiccup I haven't nailed down yet. So far, the new M-Audio Pro series are really hit and miss. Stable for a couple hours and then bananas all of a sudden.

Vital only checks for updates once on start if it's enabled in preferences and connects to the internet for TTWT, otherwise it does not need a connection - that's what the dev told us on this thread.
Haven't had stuck notes here on Win 8.1 x64.

Cheers and good luck with hunting bananas ;-)
