My Desert island Synth

I think the scenario of why you were on a desert island in the first place would be needed.
If castawayed, then the only purpose our electronics have is whether it connects to the outside world.
If purposely dumped there for a few months to get your music together with one DAW and one Plugin as a way to focus with having adequate power but absolutely no internet connection... then certain plugins that need to sign in regularly can't even be considered. Authorization method becomes the paramount consideration.
Or maybe it has nothing to do with production, but a self-exile to just reconnect with your instrument.
Scenario 1: nothing, save it in hopes of a passing ship with WiFi/bluetooth.
Scenario 2: Cubase & HALion
Scenario 3: Pianoteq
The last two have their own recorder also, in case we can't include the DAW.
Every time I pick up a new synth, there is usually a "honeymoon" period at the exclusion of all others anyway.

As desert islands usually don't have power plants, a solar-driven power generator is recommendable if you want to use your laptop
Otherwhise try it with steel drums, mallets and marimbas!

Back in my Drum Corps days I brought a marimba to every place I went.
And yeah, I still miss it.

A 'desert island X' is an expression meaning an example of a class of things X that is uniquely valuable to you. Discussion about electricity and escape is just lol
My current desert island synth is Wave Alchemy Bassynth as what more do you really need in a song apart from bass? Sure I cluld get some drum-ish sounds out of it too, more than enough.
Oh, and a lifeboat with oars, to, er, help me escape.

Will never play on the island! Needs access to the servers...
Even the “free as in beer” version would not run...
Electricity isn’t a problem as the windmill is considered being part of any synth or computer...

True if i use the cloud version.Tj Shredder wrote: Sat Jan 16, 2021 7:45 amWill never play on the island! Needs access to the servers...

I have bought the license to use the pro version so i would have hunted down a no server version to use on that Island
What about those that want to keep C/R Protected Synths?
They are also screwed if the activation decides to deactivate for no aparent reason which happens sometimes.

I think you're overthinking the scenario.BBFG# wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:19 pm I think the scenario of why you were on a desert island in the first place would be needed.
