Using these live with Studio One V5. 5 tracks, three triggered by keyboard for Strings/Organ, and another 2 trigger by another keyboard for Lead (both MiniV, the latest).
On Mac, Mid-2014 MBP 16GB (1600) SSD i7 @ 2.5, latest catalina
On PC, Asus laptop (newer than the Mac) 16GB, SSD, i7 @ 2.7 - 2.9, win10 X64 latest
I've done this with a Focusrite Scarlette Solo, and a M-Audio Micro DAC (brand new).
THE MAC BLOWS THE PC OUT OF THE WATER. In face, the PC is unpredictable and unusable. When the VST overload happens, the PC CPU is not high, which makes little sense until StudioOneV5 is not optimized for the CPU on PC. Or these plugins, and I learn toward the plugins. I'm running both interfaces on both systems at the same latency (512). IN FACT, I can lower the mac to 64 on EITHER interface and it still runs fine on Mac. EVEN ON THE BUILT IN AUDIO DEVICE. WTH?
My GUESS is that those clever French Dev's at Arturia use big honkin Macs to code and test this, and use some kind of cross compiler for PC.
Insight anyone?
And please don't say "use different plugins". These are the ones I need to recreate much of "Dogs" from Animals album by Pink Floyd live.
Thanks in advance!

I always turn off the effects on the VST's and use something else in StudioOne. Something I KNOW is easy on the CPU (on the PC). It's a fair point though. I'm sure there are other ways to get certain plugins to take less CPU, by I want to know why my test is SO skewed in favor of Mac. Makes zero sense to me!

I used to use PC's 10 year ago for music, and now I remember why I switched to Mac.
I did all the optimizations suggested by Presonus, and this whole setup now runs acceptably on the PC. It's the same PC tuning tips fro 10-20 years ago for audio. And some new ones of course. Amazing how much it helps.

Just curious, what were those optimizations?

there are so many i7 types that i7 says nothing about performance.
