I think it is more or less the same thing: viewtopic.php?p=5992216#p5992216

more or less doesn't sound the same

its SV, diff arrangement, and while it may sound similar, it's not the same

couldn't get close using the ms20 vst to my Minibrute (tried as i read something similar many years ago)

Same filter topology != same sound.

nope
MS 20 has a Sallen-Key filter.
Both used to be pretty unique, meaning that only Steiner Parker had that filter and only Korg used Sallen-Key filters. But it's the whole package that makes a synth sound a certain way, not just a filter or the osc.

Must be the closest to a Brute in software land.
it may be the closest (prob the only one that tries) but its not close enough to be convincing
Steiner Parker filters are a Korg MS-20 filter as far as I know.Quite common in the synthesizer world.
I think they just gave it a different name for patent/royalties reasons.

Just for the fun of it, a small acid part I recorded with Microbrute, this time no effects and no other synths.

I like the filter on that thing :)

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Compare it to the real MS-20 maybe.

The MS-20 filter is a Sallen-Key which seems to be very similar to Steiner-Parker. At least that's what I read. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't really like the Brute's filter. Someone called it juicy, but, for me, it's quite the opposite. Dry sounding and rude (distorting).

The interesting thing to note is that Studio One reports 29% CPU usage, whereas Task Manager says it's really only 6.6%. That's just 1.1% of my available CPU power per voice. It's nothing so I don't quite see why everyone is making such a fuss.

For some reason the image wasn't displaying in the post, so click on the link to see it.

You might also want to opt for the Task Manager view where you see the diagram for each core, because that tracks the load for a minute or two, so you see peaks that might get lost in the table view.

similar isn't the same

the SP in the minibrute is great, i love it, but that's not relevant

i loved the MS20 hardware too, so it's not a case of "better"
