Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

Huh, interesting. Totally anecdotal, but from the response I observed both during the summer sale and the (very solid) Komplete 13 upgrade I would have figured they're doing pretty well. Maybe it's got more to do with the difficulties coping with home office and lockdown regulations? I could see that delaying development. But I have of course no clue... just that for me it was a big NI year, I spent well over 1000 bucks with them for software and hardware.
I would be interested to see if plugin sales are actually down from last year. Some companies that don't rely on social gatherings have been doing extremely well - Amazon, Netflix. I suppose less gigs means less jobs for musicians and audio engineers, who buy the plugins of course. But I for example have spent comparatively more this year, just because I didn't spend money on vacations or social gatherings. And I found making music the perfect isolationist activity. So yeah... just curious.

I guess they now also have to deal with Apple's M1 compatibility as well. And I don't think it's a trivial task, given how large NI's portfolio is.

Anyway, EvilDragon has stated more than once that NI is aware of MX browser shortcomings (by far MX's biggest problem), and have plans to improve it.

Oh right, I didn't mean that they are doing poorly financially but rather that it seems to have caused limitations for their workforce...
I hope they're still making progress on the new update.

Yeah, I think the release of K13, Apple compatibility issues and just general manoeuvring in the times of Covid is certainly enough of an explanation why the MX update is taking a little while longer...
Oh totally misread that. Yeah that makes sense for sure.ScrLk wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 8:59 pm Oh right, I didn't mean that they are doing poorly financially but rather that it seems to have caused limitations for their workforce...I hope they're still making progress on the new update.

I don’t know, they were having trouble with Massive X development before the pandemic... They delayed the release then shipped an incomplete product.

I’ll happily buy it again once they fix the slow patch loading and add midi learn.

I have to ask..does anybody actually like this synth? :'D
I feel like I've barely heard anything good out of it or any noticeable songs made with it. It's honestly sad that it has this much of a poor reputation

Of course. Love it. There's other people here who love it as well.
That's the problem, isn't it?

I love it and absolutely consider it one of the best synths I own. Absolutely my desert island synth.Shiek927 wrote: Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:45 pm I have to ask..does anybody actually like this synth? :'D

It sounds pretty good, but even though I own it in K13 CE, I don't touch it because it is a 100% mouse plugin. Only 16 automatable macros that can be assigned to hardware controls and touch screen is unusable. I can't stand using a mouse for sound design. So until they sort that out, I won't be using it.
I wish the NI devs would get on the same page and start having some standards across their products. Super 8 VST works great on a touch screen, so does Guitar Rig 6 now. Hopefully that's coming to Massive X. But still, I also hope they reconsider their design of not exposing the main synth parameters to host automation/control. But we've whined enough about that I suppose.

We'll have whined about it enough when they change it!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 17, 2021 9:00 pmBut still, I also hope they reconsider their design of not exposing the main synth parameters to host automation/control. But we've whined enough about that I suppose.
