I apologize if I'm clueless, but is there a way to have a countin on the metronome for recording.?

What you can do is add a count in with bars to the composition..

Thanks. I saw this option, but what it does is essentially adding unused space to the front of the composition or phrase that has to be dealt with later and not helpful if you choose to record in the middle of a composition or phrase.

yup, exactly right.. At the moment, that is all available. What I would do is render the project out as audio and then load it into a DAW and record in the DAW. You could then load that back into RC..
