He did great patches, too, and was a nice bloke, from my recollection.

Man, I wish we could include Bronto Scorpio's patches, but he seems MIA, right?
Edit: sorry, I made one post in 2015, stating that I still was alive

But before that, you released a nice drumsynth made with SynthMaker, isn't it? (I think I remember thatstefancrs wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 3:42 pmI think i have a nine year gap here on KVR, so...

Oh he made them freely available. Hmmm. I guess it doesn't hurt to try to contact via that e-mail there...Teksonik wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 4:09 pm It's still possible to download some of Bronto Scorpio's patches.

Hi Surge Team, great job on 1.8.0 and an opportunity to thank you for all the great work you have been in past years - really appreciate it, great synth, glad to hear even more great presets are being collected!
I found one problem (bug?) in 1.8.0 which I would like to let you know about (Windows 10): when using touch, the "sliders" cannot be operated properly. When you start moving them, after a brief moment they start accelerating all on their own and quickly move to the maximum value (or minimum if you started moving down). Interestingly, when RDPing into my music machine (remote desktop), this problem occurs even when you use the mouse to operate the slider. I have tested this with Surge 1.8.0 VST3 hosted in Bitwig 3.2.8 on Windows 10 and Windows 8, and Cakewalk 2020.11 and Ableton Live Lite 10.0.6 on Windows 8, the issue occurs in all of these configurations.)
Especially now with the great new royal skin, it would really be nice to be able to operate Surge with touch and/or across RDP, so I would be really happy if you saw a chance to fix that - thanks!

If you want to use Surge with touch, you need to disable Menu>User Settings>Mouse Behavior>Show mouse cursor while editing, and set the mouse to Exact mode.
We should document this.
Note that Surge does not support multi-touch yet. Also I am unsure if the above will work through remote desktop... but give it a shot! It does work on my Surface Pro 4 directly.

baconpaul wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 2:58 pmSo the explanation here is "we forgot to write the code". Like - just didn't have any code inside the ifs or were ignoring temposync state.baconpaul wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 12:47 pm

Cool we will look before we ship 1.8.1 and either come up with (1) an explanation of what is happening (2) a fix or (3) an apology for why we can’t fix it in a point release![]()
I banged it together this morning and the correct version with proper displays and quantization will be in 1.8.1
Ha. Thanks for the report.

Hey thanks EvilDragon, that was superfast and spot-on! Works perfectly for touch and mouse now, also across RDP.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 5:14 pm If you want to use Surge with touch, you need to disable Menu>User Settings>Mouse Behavior>Show mouse cursor while editing, and set the mouse to exact.
I could have guessed that a deep synth created by software-savvy people like you guys would have settings for this, but I confess, I would not have expected them under user settings and am still scratching my head as to what show mouse cursor might actually mean - no cursor in sight anywhere
But hey, now it works, and the next one googling for touch problems will hopefully just find your helpful post, thanks again!

Oh sorry forgot to say: I actually had to enable "Show mouse cursor while editing" for this to work (was disabled before).EvilDragon wrote: Tue Jan 19, 2021 5:14 pm If you want to use Surge with touch, you need to disable Menu>User Settings>Mouse Behavior>Show mouse cursor while editing, and set the mouse to exact mode.

Right, enable was the thing.
