Yes, just like with any MIDI CC's, you can turn on and off the sustain pedal. You can display and edit MIDI CC's under the tracks.

I promised to implement assigning MIDI CC's to phrases and individual notes. I am a bit behind schedule but I still want to include it in v4.1.

Thanks,
Attila

thanks for your question. I does not emulate a sustain pedal, but if your piano instrument supports articulations, you can define and use any supported articulation, like sustain.

Thanks,
Attila
so you would draw this in?

Oh, yes, good idea...

RapidComposer v4.1b7 is available!

This update includes detailed chord rules for Dorian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Phrygian, Aeolian modes, kindly contributed by Tomás San Miguel. He worked a lot on fine tuning these rules, I hope you'll like them! There are also some bug fixes in this update.

Improvements:
  • Chord rules and chord progressions included for Dorian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Phrygian, Aeolian modes, kindly contributed by Tomás San Miguel
  • Software update is checked once every month by default (for new installations only)
  • Fixed crash when maximizing the selected track when no track was selected
  • [macOS] Fixed hanging when setting tempo using mouse wheel during VST plug-in playback
  • Fixed: when using VST plug-ins, first note in a loop was muted for some plug-ins
  • Fixed regression: changing tabs by keyboard shortcut stopped working in beta5

I try on my s1 4.5. there it work ok. on the v5 i notice before bar 17 there is program change . maybe rc send a program change and control 10 17 bars before start of notes ?
Hi magicmusic,

no, program change is definitely not included in the dragged MIDI file! I dumped the contents of a dragged MIDI file, and also checked the source code. The only occasion when program change is embedded, is in the standalone, when you use a "General MIDI" instrument, or a GM soundfont. In the plug-in it is never inserted.

Thanks,
Attila
Hi Attila
maybe it is because my test have track controllers(see my screenshot you can see pan volume slider). i set it as default so every track i create have this controller. attach is a example rc i use. maybe you can see when you export with this controller 10 and the other. I use the VST version for drag and drop to s1 5 .EDIT: In standalone it work. only in pluginversion not ok. i test with b7

I had definite plans to implement hardware acceleration for the UI for v4.1 and that takes about a month. This is especially urgent on macOS where the UI rendering is slow due to the fact that macOS does constant color space conversion.
I am behind my original schedule, because neither the "Parallels" tab nor the "Tonnetz" were planned, and there were more bug fixes than I expected.

Thanks,
Attila

Using default preview instruments and a sound font on the track, seems the play back preview of the Tonnetz is a lot lower in volume to the track being used..

Hi magicmusic,

you were perfectly right, there was a bug when exporting a MIDI file with program change (in the plug-in only). Basically the program change introduced a small corruption in the file. I have fixed that now.

Thanks!
Attila

Hi,

I often observe that when the pop-up help is on then a) it obscures the things of interest, and b) it will continue to pop-up the same message (repeatedly obscuring the thing of interest) even after you've read it and no longer need to see it again (at least not right away).

I've attached a couple of example pics - one of Help covering chord progression results, and one of Help covering control settings. There are many such examples.

Of course the Help system cannot read our minds. :!:

Ideally help would pop-up at a location that does not obscure what that help itself is talking about. This may be impossible, or just unpractically difficult to achieve.

However, there are a few possible helpful changes I can think of off the top of my head that may be practical to implement. In addition to just turning the pop-up help on or off completely, selectable modes could be added:

1. No duplicate re-display - will not again pop-up the same message that was the last message displayed.

2. Once per session - will only pop-up any message once per session (run of the program)

3. No re-display for XXX seconds - a per message timer. A displayed message will not be re-displayed until XXX seconds have passed since the last time.

I think any one of these options would create an improvement over the current situation, and if they were all implemented for the user to choose between that would be even better.

Hi BluGenes,

I think either the track 'Expression' (=a multiplier for Note On velocities) is increased, or the "Preview Note On Velocity" is decreased under Settings/ Preview tab.
When I use RCPiano.sf2 for both preview and in the track, I did not experience volume difference with the default settings. (The chord preview in Tonnetz is the same as any other chord preview.)

Thanks,
Attila

Hi,

Scale, Tempo, and Time Signature can be changed along the Master Track timeline.

Do I understand though that Chord Rules are singular - just one setting for the whole Composition.

If so, would it be flexible and sensible to make Chord Rules something that can also be changed along the Master Track timeline?

Hi,

Testing out the new Dorian Scale Rules here. (I'm loving the idea of more rules to work with!)

I do not see how it is possible for these Rules to generate (via the Dice) a Ddim chord (ii dim), and yet they have. (IOW, I don't see ii dim anywhere in the Rules.)

RC - C Dorian Rules make D dim 01.jpg

So, is there something I don't understand correctly, or is there a bug, or is the fact that this is not a brand new Comp but an experiment in an existing comp (previously set to Cm and Cm Rules) creating a special situation?
