yes, absolutely, a whole lot of that video is now dated, like the rules reload.. but, the premise of it still applies as for designating the weights and next chord. I am actually back at work on the series, so, hopefully I'll present the new videos soon.

One thing you could do is just save it as a composition and if you start a new composition you could "merge" the saved composition. That process is in the file menu.sj1 wrote: Mon Jan 25, 2021 9:55 pm I have a conceptual workflow question perhaps someone can give me some good advice on.
If I have a section of a Composition (some number of measures) where I love a result and want to save all of that section (only) as a unit (the tracks, the phrases, the progression, melodies, etc.) so I can "get it back" at some point in the future, what is the best (or a good) way to proceed.?
EDIT: never mind.. that is broken

Merging compositions loses the VST information in the tracks...
edit: this was merged, then quit RC and re-started RC, it reloaded the last session..

As pie-in-the-sky commentary (and not deeply thought thru), abilities such as these I think would be quite useful:
1. Being able to highlight a section (number of contiguous measures) of a comp and do a Save of it as-if it were the full comp. IOW, the saved section could reload and play on it's own, or be merged in later elsewhere (more on that to come). Instead of contiguous measures Section Save could be on Parts/Lines instead, but it would be key to be able to very quickly turn any set of contiguous measures into Parts/Lines in that case, and Parts/Lines when saved this way would need to carry along key Track information which I think they currently do not.
2. Merging that somehow fully and elegantly deals with the kind of thing BluGenes shows above. An incoming track, for example, could a) flow into an existing track, effectively taking on the existing track's instruments and any other relevant values, or b) come in as a new track, maintaining the instruments saved with the Section originally, or c) ask the user at Merge time which of a) or b) is desired.
Simply going with b) alone would be a good start as the user could reasonably easily assign an instrument after import, or drag phrases to an existing track. But of course, if the user has an overall concept (e.g. orchestra, jazz combo, rock band) within which s/he often works then it would be very helpful if Merging of something saved with the same concept as the target into which it is being Merged did not require manual post-Merge cleanup, which could be actually a very big job depending how many tracks are involved.
I could see Merging coming to require a tab and various choices of it's own ala 'MIDI Import'. In this case the import would be of the RC native saved Section rather than of simple MIDI.

Hello Attila!
I decided to write about one more bug ...
(I remind you, Mas Os).
Master track / Select scale / Others / all works, but try to select a scale from folders that start with the Alt folder and below .. It is not possible for me to do this (. (4.1b7)

Just a heads-up that this can happen -
I got to a point in working with a Composition where I could not get the Master Track Inspector to open.
Fortunately, closing and restarting RC fixed this.

I'm also noticing that trying to close Inspectors via the keyboard (I always try 'w', Ctrl-w, and Esc) is not reliable. I've seen it work, but I've also seen it not work at all. (These observation when running standalone.) It does seem to me that this needs to be investigated.

Hi,
In the attached simple file I am trying to copy the bass phrase into the next 4 measures.
I have tried Ctrl-drag, and I have tried 'Repeat Phrase Until End Of' in the Phrase Inspector.
In each case I wind up with an altered phrase and not the simple copy I wanted and thought was being specified.
Am I doing something incorrectly? Is my file corrupt? Is it a bug? Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this!

Hi lulukom,
You are so right. Funnily enough I discovered this bug accidentally today when testing RC on macOS. Needless to say, I was shocked and embarrassed... This is fixed in beta8, see below.
Thanks!
Attila

Hi,
Thanks for v4.1b8 !
In v4.1b8 I think possibly the new connection between selected chords in the Master Track and the 'Number of Chords' box in the Master Track Inspector is not quite operating as intended.
I'm thinking the intention was to have the MTI 'Number of Chords' be hot-updated as per # of chords selected on the MT, and this to be visible when/if the MTI is displayed, else merely operative behind-the-scenes via the Dice.
Later, when/if there are no chords selected on the MT then the MTI 'Number of Chords' would either be as per the last # selected or else as per what it was set to originally directly in the MTI before any number of chords was ever selected on the MTI (which? or something else?)
In any case, what I observe is that the MTI 'Number of Chords' is now always grayed-out and non-functional when the MTI is opened.

Hi Steve,
yes, you are right, the purpose of this change was to auto-update the chord count in the MTI, so that pressing the 'Dice' would result the expected number of chords. This worked like that before when 'keep harmonic rhythm' was enabled, but now the number of chords is ALWAYS updated. I don't want to make it more complicated when there are no chords selected which number to display... For no selection the chord count becomes 1.
Thanks,
Attila
