What I'm looking for is maybe unclear, so I'll do my best in specifying what I want, here.
When searching in Microsoft Window's file explorer for appropriate samples, the fastest technique I've found was to execute a search (e.g. "drum fill") and then click on "Play All" in the "Music Tools" tab. My default audio player opens up everything and I just skip the tracks until I find something.
I've tried the FL Studio Demo version and quickly fell in love with the sample search engine. It has the MS file explorer interface and the same text search system, but you hear the sound when you select the file and you don't need to open it. Marvellous.
It's not laziness. It's just time-saving, in my opinion. Which is why I'm taking the time to write this post, LOL. I think opening everything all the time is really time consuming. What I actually do, sometimes, is I open up FL Studio and put in an audio track channel. Then I restore the FL window in a corner of my screen and use FL for searching samples. When I find the good one, I drag-and-drop it in my main DAW.
It would be cool to have this integrated in MS' file explorer. Like, maybe a plug-in or extension to the actual File Explorer browser?
I don't know. Maybe someone already has a solution to this. I know you can download alternative file search engines, and maybe one of them can do this?
Really, it's more simple than I make it sound. Click the item in file explorer, hear the sound. Press the down-up arrows on your keyboard at an insane speed and you hear all the sounds for which the files are selected on the way, which makes for a super fast overview of what the folder contains.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers.

Maybe something here?

You might also be interested in something like Loopcloud or ADSR Sample Manager which can function as a VST plugin.

Like above, you can use something like LoopCloud or ADSR Sample Manager to index, search and play your sounds.

Or use an alternative for Windows Explorer. I sometimes use Total Commander for this. You can easily search your files, list them and play the sounds with the F3 key, stop with Esc and navigate with arrows. It's more or less the same steps as you did with Windows Explorer, but you can use only the computer keyboard and it works quite fast for me.
