I downloaded the Rhino2 demo to take a look at the GUI. Are there any directions about how the skin can be changed? I find the skin.ini and .dat file quite daunting.
Do I have to give all 8-bit bitmaps the same colour palette?
There is only one skin folder. Can I create another one with a different name? Is there a way to switch between two skins?
Can I cange the colour of envelopes etc (I believe it's black now)?
That's about it I think. Don't hold your breath, anyone. I think I'll stick to some minor colour changes for now to make it a bit lighter.

skin.dat contains the definition for creating all skins items. Usually you wouldn't change that unless you want to replace sliders by knobs.

skin.ini contains the location, bitmaps and colors for all items. To change envelopes colors, change the line starting with "GenericCurve: "

This will change colors for all curves, so if you want to change it for envelopes only, change the line starting with "GenericEnv: ".

More generally, a line with the "@=" syntax is an "include", so
GenericEnv: @=GenericCurve, @=genericScrollbar

will merge, for GenericEnv item, the GenericCurve and genericScrollbar items attributes.

Hope this all makes sense :-)

Also, Rhino always uses the skin located under the skin folder. Just rename the original one to skin_old or something.

Thank you. I'll start asap (but not tonight).

Yeah, please Amoebe, make a skin.
Your eXT skin is my favorite one !

Anyone care to comment on this small part?

The Blue text against the cream color background is very easy to read...especailly for an ol' guy like me :)

Looking beautiful - but obviously you haven't put your key file in the proper location :-)

This is a beautiful synth you have here, but I got too many vsti's already. Unless, of course, I need to own it before I can skin it. (In that case I'll stop skinning).

Amoebe,
Your skins are some of the best I have ever seen - I would be VERY interested in seeing what you would come up with for Rhino...

Nope. You can keep skinning :-)
Again, if you feel creative and wanna use knobs instead of sliders, I'll be pleased to help. I've written a paintshop script that makes is soooo easy to draw rotating knobs, this won't be a pain any more...

Well, nobody seems to objects to yellow and purple, so I'll continue skinning the beast. :D

Right. If you wanna change fonts, I'd recommend to use Xymantix's QCD Font Maker to automatically generate the font bitmap.

Hye All.

Here is a skin i'm finishing...
let me know if you're interested with it.
For the moment, i've kept the fonts and the button pages at the top.
I've just reorganized several things, expecially in the fx page.
