Hi folks!

Simple question, is it at all possible to automate any other parameters than Pan, volume and the "usual" MIDI stuff in Hyper Draw (Logic Express)??

Yes I know all parameters can be automated with Track auto ,which for my way of working is simply infinitely cumbersome and resource eating, (we're talking really complex filter movements looped for bars and bars etc)

Bottom line, automating most of my stuff in hyper draw is an absolute *must*, alas it doesn't seem to work at all. I think by now I browsed through all of the available cc numbers , assigning them to lanes in hyperdraw, went through allt the motions of "creating new hyper sets" etc etc. and tried every key command hoping to see that mystery dialogue window popping up, no such luck :(

I don't want to spend another sleepless night (tore apart the manual last night and crumbled a cd case with my bare hands, no joke , this really really pisses me off).

>>So in a nutshell, how to get that filter-sweep into Hyper Draw??

Many thanks !

Marco :)

never thought I'd ever do this :-D

Dunno about Logic Express, but AFAICT, TBA (Track based Automation) is no more intensive than OBA (Object based automation), at least when sample-accurate automation is disabled. (its in the prefs somewhere)

Are you automating external synths or plugs? What version number of Logic are you using? Platform?

I don't know if you can automate plugin parameters, directly, w/OBA. If the plug accepts CCs, you can do it that way... which is what you're doing now, yes?

In Logic 6 (platinum and pro, and I believe 5 also) you can directly automate the first 128 parameters of third party plugs with TBA. With L7, that limitation is lifted - and logical parameter names are implemented too. Of course, all this applies to the Platinum and Pro editions, I'm not sure about express. But in all cases you can only CC automate external synths in TBA. As far as Sysex automation, its doable, with OBA, but I don't know how editable it is.

Yes just choose the parameter that you want to automate and away you go...For example, select the track that has the instrument or FX that you want to automate and then select the unit and select the parameter...be sure to have the "automate everything box" in audio properties ticked!

That's one of the stupid limitations of Silver/Express unfortunately.

You would have to upgrade in order to be able to use Hyperdraw for any parameter. :(

Or  use a workaround:
Draw or record your automation data using Track Automation, and then execute 'Options' -> 'Track Automation' -> 'Move Current Track Automation Data To Object'. The Track Automation data has now been converted to Hyperdraw Data.
It works in Silver/Express as well, as they seem to have forgotten to disable that menu entry. Just make sure not to disable Hyperdraw for that parameter later on, as there won't be a second chance to get Silver/Express to display the data as Hyperdraw.

Btw., as you were talking about "Hypersets": Hyperdraw and Hyperedit (with its dedicated window) are two quite different things.
?????????????
