NX/Abbey Road is great as an alternative source of monitoring. It's especially useful where headphones are the only option like outside tge studio. It helped me realize eg. that I had still too much rumble in sub and stuff like that. I used it without headtracking device tho.
This is not a plugin to work as a reference headphones correction. This is a plugin to show you how your project sounds on different setup that your headphones.
It's also extremely important to set proper head/ear size.

I bought this an hour ago and now all my mixes sound fantastic. There's a level of 3D and nostalgia that I previously could only experience with analog gear.

But seriously, I bought the NX tracker last year and was looking forward to getting on board with a room sim, but didn't want to invest the time to learn the NX imaginary room. I decided I was going to invest the time this year to learn AR Studio 3, but now that this is out and probably has their latest sim tech, I'm going to learn this one.

The impediment is that my Waves installer is broken right now, again. This time it was when Windows 10 decided to force some update that broke a bunch of stuff. After a week of fiddling I finally got everything working again, but now Waves thinks I've hacked something and it won't start. So I gotta waste a couple more days on this before I can install the new plugin.

In the meantime, I've listened to the NX Ocean Way promo video and imagined my mixes through this plugin, and they sound revolutionary in my mind, game changer.

Hilarious.........basically why I wont even get the Waves freebies any more....I like my Waves stuff and don’t want it broken.....I’m on Win 7 and Waves 10......when its over its over I guess.

It could have something to do with your O/S being a bit out of date, maybe it's time to update your issues with a fresh coat of modern day processing and system requirements.

Yeah perhaps but WIN 7 was supported up until 2020. Somewhere in 2019 I stopped going to Waves Central because I had to spend hours fixing stuff.

I realize all my stuff is out of date at this point. I will try a Win 10 system at some point. I am really hoping I can build a Linux system for my next go round. Only thing holding me back really is my Motu interface doesn't play nice with Linux...But in reality.....I could make the music I want to for the rest of my life with what I have.

Waves updated their Waves Central process since then, due to a lot of complaints about the confusion with updating everything to the latest version on their system. I think they've got it all figured out now, it's much easier to use and a lot less confusing. It also self updates, so you don't have to go through the hassle of manually doing it.

It's pretty easy to keep track of the different versions on your system too, it allows for version 9 to version 12 to co-exist. Because a lot of the updates aren't really significant enough to upgrade anyways, unless you run into system requirement issues.

I currently use v10, v11 and v12 plugins without any issues.

Going to pick this up soon since a lot of people are saying it’s better than ARS3, and I love that plugin.

Post

I only demoed ARS3 some time ago so I don't remember enough to make comparison.
Oceqn Way is definitely good imo. I bought it even that i told myself that I'll never buy anything anymore from them :x
It's definitely good for club music. HR1 speakers are massive. I was wondering why I feel like I'm listening music in the club or live event. Then I checked studio website to find out how huge HR1 speakers are.
With a test of several of my tracks and others at some point I found some issues in my tracks made on headphones. After fixing track translates even better so imo this NX is doing it's job very well.

Has somebody compared this with DearVR Monitor?

You have to admit though. Win 7 had a HUGE run, that’s quite an old operating system now. It’s very difficult to make anything new on old tech as it doesn’t have any of the new tech necessary. AVX or Machine Learning for example.

Yeah, I have bro.

DearVR’s plugin, I forget the name, has more things in common with the vanilla NX, but without the head tracking. It does offer you other virtual spaces though, ranging from a bedroom to a huge hall. It also offers you controls to change your head orienting instead of the tracking.

NX really comes into its own with Abbey Road Studios and this new Ocean Way. It works bet with the Bluetooth head tracker though as camera tracking has its limitations. You only have to scratch your nose to throw it off.
