That's all well and great, but IMHO, what DUNE really needs is better (as in, fully configurable) envelopes and more of them.

Post

Sorry but no. Komplete kontrol it's such a resource hungry thing it makes Dune 3 LOW CPU feature unexist.

Bad boss.
NKS is great for v.irtual instruments like Dune (which have is strength most notably in EDM etc.). It's not like we talking about orchestral stuff which need 50+ instances of K.ontakt and every instance uses NKS.

Anyway no big deal on modern DAWs and having options is always good as nobody is forced to use it.

What's wrong with the MSEG's?

Nothing as far as I can tell (I was referring to ADSR envelopes).

Thought i asked this but... Is it only the LED colour different on the new skin?

2. Alternate looping (forward - backwards),
3. Undo in the sample editor,
4. Non destructive trim feature,
5. Sample preview when loading samples,
6. Drag and drop support for sample loading,
7. Unisono features for samples (it can be done with additional voices - I know).
THIS! 1. & 2. would be ace, the other's of course as well.

The easiest thing is to make your own Favourites folder, in the Soundbanks Folder, and then save any presets you like or make in there. That way they'll be easier to get at when you need them. It' snot perfect but it's better than nothing.

That makes no sense - set up the MSEGs with ADSR if you want finer control of your envelopes and/or more of them. That's why they are there.

Maybe to you.

To me, having a few more ADSR envelopes makes perfect sense.

That's what I'm already doing.

I just need more of them.

I have couple of FR's, though.

1. cross-fade looping,
2. Alternate looping (forward - backwards),
3. Undo in the sample editor,
4. Non destructive trim feature,
5. Sample preview when loading samples,
6. Drag and drop support for sample loading,
7. Unisono features for samples (it can be done with additional voices - I know).

Thanks!
1-5 is essential! :tu: I would also request a proper modern preset browser.

However, this update is great! The sample loading is working well. Yes, it's slightly cumbersome without the above features, but the loop feature worked well for me. This can add a whole other timbre to Dune - samples!

no, tho they do look very similar

haven't posted here in over 10 years, Dune 3 is the first plugin that made me need to.

I've probably owned or tried most major VSTs over the years and have had plenty of hardware including a Virus TI. The only other plugin on the same playing field as Dune 3, in terms of sound quality, is Repro.

The update to 3.4 is fantastic and just takes things to another level.

Despite that, the interface and overall "user experience" is a long way out of date.

The non-existent patch mgmt, the tiny little arpeggiator, and the old-school modulation system with no visual feedback are the big three for me - these are all now way behind the rest of the market.

But maybe this is exactly why the synth sounds so good - the developer just wants to spend his time on the sound, not the UI. Ideally he'd hire people for that side - because if he did address these points, the synth would be unbeatable.

I have to say I agree, its one of my faveroute sounding soft synths, but the GUI with the 'little fake LCD Window' paradigm is unnecessary and outdated in my opinion. The pre-set management is probably the worst of any of the VSTs I own (I and own Massive X!)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Isn't the conclusion then that Dune is "real" and has the right focus compared to the mass of good looking but weak sounding competitors/pozers?

And isn't it just the group of preset users that nags about the browser? Aren't sound Designers desires somehow more weighty?

I have also heard sound designers complain about it though.

The PB is no palace, but I'd rate other desires as way more important/interesting.

But OK - that's just me and my wife is just a normal gal, but tastes delicious 😉
