Moving large libraries to an external drive seems so essential. It shouldn't require a workaround.

You must be doing it wrong, because it definitely works.

I agree it's stupid to force a workaround, but they're not the first and the last...

May be more helpful to explain how to do it rather than just you're doing it wrong.

So which other daws wont allow you to move their content, most even provide a built in way to set the folder to use.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

Code: Select all

mklink /j "D:\DOCUMENTS\MUSIC\Propellerhead Content" "E:\REASON\Propellerhead Content"
mklink /j "C:\ProgramData\Propellerhead Software\Soundbanks" "E:\REASON\Soundbanks"
mklink /j "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\RackExtensions" "E:\REASON\RackExtensions"

These are the three directories that use the most space. I use E:\REASON as a destination directory, but use whatever you'd prefer.

That ougta tidy things up a bit for you.

I just googled it

I'm using this software, that simply adds righ-click menu entries for creating different types of symlinks, junktions and links: https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshe ... nsion.html
