Just want to say I think the GUI and shape is fine. I don’t see the issue at all. And front/back is fine too, it’s basically just having two tabs, not so bad for less used controls.

Another vote for a different skin and I would even pay for it. I wish you would just stop with the whole rack extension GUI thing. I'm finding that regardless of how Obsession sounds, I'm using Arturia's or Oberhausen more often. I also particularly HATE flipping to the back on yours. What a workflow killer. Honestly, I just don't like using your synth because of the way it looks and the compromises one is forced to make because you just HAD to fit it in the reason rack. I really hope your next synth gets freed from the RE GUI confines, but it would be great if Obsession got a makeover ASAP.

If there was any kind of a vote, I'd love to see:
1. Obsession with a wider layout that more resembles the hardware
2. Effects and matrix slots always visible at the bottom of the main GUI (no page 2 - just add a row down below)
3. A single Adjustments page with tweaks for all 8 voices exposed at the same time
And for non GUI stuff...
4. A triangle LFO shape (just use the same triangle in the osc's)
5. Ability to change effect order (I'd almost always want Chorus, Delay, Reverb)
6. Resonance ranges that can be expanded to go into self-resonance (which according to the hardware service manual should be possible, even if the standard calibration procedure says to go into self-resonance than back it down so it doesn't)
7. Some of the OB-8 "page 2" functions
8. More Mod Slots
That would make an AMAZING Obsession 1.5 (or 2.0) update IMO! That wishlist is pretty much unchanged since the original release.

I would also love a single page GUI for both Obsession and Legend.
I like a lot of the suggestions above, but the biggest omission to Obsession is the missing ramp/saw LFO shape that is on the hardware by the pitch and mod levers.

I agree, wider layout, single page, and mod matrix on either side of the UI

But you don't HATE flipping through Arturia's expanded panel or Oberhausen's FX/ARP/MOD tabs ?dvnation wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 5:33 pm I'm finding that regardless of how Obsession sounds, I'm using Arturia's or Oberhausen more often. I also particularly HATE flipping to the back on yours.
Flipping front/back on OBsession is just a mouse click. If that's a "workflow killer" I don't know what to say.....
If a developer makes a GUI bigger to make it one page people complain that it's too big. If they add tabs people will complain about Tabs. If they make it wider people will complain it's too wide.

I do too.
Its all there in the same page.
Actually beyond Reason stuff, Monark from NI and of course Legend and Obsession are there any popular software that requires you to flip to the back?
For sure I would imagine more would have done it if indeed it wasn't really bad design.

Blamsoft VK 1 managed to do a good job keeping everything on the front panel, and its not a bad sounding emulation of the Moog Voyager either, however, the silver UI is grotesque.

No, they are way less of a PITA because they appear alongside the main page, rather than instead of it, so there is minimal flipping back and forth.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:44 amBut you don't HATE flipping through Arturia's expanded panel or Oberhausen's FX/ARP/MOD tabs ?
If you only need to do it once, it's nothing but when you spend 5 minutes clicking, adjusting one control, clicking again, adjusting one control, clicking, adjusting one control, clicking, etc. it quickly becomes a PITA. If you want an example, re-balancing your cutoff frequency as you add velocity modulation to cutoff in the mod matrix while you listen to it's effect as you play. It's often a very delicate balance that requires a bit of back and forth.Flipping front/back on OBsession is just a mouse click. If that's a "workflow killer" I don't know what to say.....
I think I'm the only person in the universe who ever complains about GUIs being too big and even I am in favour of making Obsession's bigger to accommodate more of the back panel features, or all of them.If a developer makes a GUI bigger to make it one page people complain that it's too big.

RePro has the tweaks page, but it is not an essential where you would need to swap back and forth.zvenx wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:51 am I do too.

That right there... I find it clumsy when I want to adjust two things that interact with each other and I have to switch pages or tabs to do so. Then the tab switching gets in the way of that process. More than just the time it takes.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:35 am If you only need to do it once, it's nothing but when you spend 5 minutes clicking, adjusting one control, clicking again, adjusting one control, clicking, adjusting one control, clicking, etc. it quickly becomes a PITA. The tweaks page is one of the best examples of horrible UI in a commercial plugin.pdxindy wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:12 amRePro has the tweaks page, but it is not an essential where you would need to swap back and forth.zvenx wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 1:51 am I do too.

The RePro tweaks page? I quite like it. I barely need to touch it, and when I do for the off-hand chance I want to try a different osc/filter model, or change from reallocation to round-robin, or turning on S&H, I can. The fake PCB thing is cute too.
Obsession's tweaks page has the problem of having one tab per voice, which is a lot of clicking around, and looking too much like the standard page so that I'm regularly lost wondering why the filter cutoff isn't moving on the GUI when I'm moving the knob on the controller.
